Long Range Shots

Have you got any tips on having shots outside the box in open play not free kicks? i mean sometimes you come up to the box and you want to have a crack but i seem to be unsuccessful. I know you might have to have a star player like Gerrard or Lampard but are there any other tips to making them zip in more easily. Cheers

Use R2 before you press square and it's supposed to be a controlled shot I think

its best to have a player pass upwards or downwards from the sides (wherever your player is) and then have a player waiting (any player) in the centre of pitch and hold up while putting half power shot and 1/3 times its in the back of the net otherwise it goes very close.
Ive scored with rubbish players its all about timing. once youve done it a few times it becomes natural to do it. Trust me nearly every player can do it you dont need gerrard or kaka or whatever.

Even though his shooting stas aren't that good (helped no doubt by having 'middle-shooting') I've found that I can score quite a few longish range goals (I'm yet to score any REALLY long range shots) with Park J. Sung.

first goal i scored on pes5 was with rooney 45 yards was a BEAST, mate not impressed. any player can shoot perfectly is all about timing and getting the feel of when to press and let go of the shoot button

Yeah but get Adriano . He'll practically kill the goalkeeper from 30 yards out . I know , i've scored 1 or 2 screamers from that distance with him , that's if i'm given space to wind it up LOL .

i agree, all about timing and finding that little bit space you need to let rip from 20 yrds+ although ive not sent many in to the top corner, they all seem to be grasscutters ;-)

use r2 with middle shooting players like lampard, gerrard etc. and just aim for the keeper and it always seems to go either side of him for me but i use a tilted camera angle so it can be different if u use broadcasting or whatever

I agree with "timing".... It's all about timing & it's better with the player who has "Middle Shot" attribut (star)

How much space do you need to volley the ball? After the (down, up) X pass when the player flicks it forward I cant seem to get to the ball quickly enough to whack it. In the trainind section I can do it fine but in a game situation it is difficult to know when. I have been playing ISS since day 1 so I like to think I know what I am doing but this is too much. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

not meaning to be funny but 30 yards aint that far out. for long range shots (ie bottom of the centre circle) i don't think a 1st time shot is that likely to reach the back of the net. use the RADAR to look at whether the keeper has come off his line. a lot of the time you'll find that the keeper comes quite far out. so if you can turn over possesion quickly in the centre of the field and find some space on the move just inside the opponents half you can smack a shot straight at the goal and it will simply go over the keeper. the keeper is going to run back to his line and try and tip it over the bar and hopefully fail to do this and end up in his own net looking like an idiot.

Van Bommel from Barcelona does an awesome long shot, better than his stats suggest.

Just point the shot at the far post, use about 1/3 power, and you should do a decent shot. I wouldn't recommend controlled shot from far out because I think it's too weak.

The shot will be more likely to go in if you were sprinting with the ball before the shot - some people may disagree but I find the shot tends to be more precise as well as being more powerful.

agree with smb about the sprinting for sure. usually find that running into lots of space just inside the opponents half at speed is the best time to score long range efforts.

however, if you haven't already - check out the shot training (i think its in situation training? or maybe challenge training?) there is a specific long range task. in that task you start standing and you need to nudge the ball forward with R1+L1 then hammer it. so if you find yourself in that situation give it a go.

i reckon christiano Ranaldo and adriano are class at long range shots because i have scored loads of goals from the halfway line with them
were the goalie was of his line and i just hit the ball from the halfway line and scored.

I agree 100% about the sprinting. Just one or two steps of sprinting are usually all thats needed i find. Just like in real life footie you rarely see a long range screamer where the player didn´t take some sort of a run up.

What do mean by a ´controlled´ shot??
