Lost Connection to Server -- Is it cheating??

Hi,
I was recently playing ML Open (Coach Mode) an i advanced to the knockout stage. While i was playing my first match and winning at 90' it says 'Lost conncetion to server', Is it cheating? Again today in the same tournament in my second match again winning 2-0 and at 87' again 'Lost connection to server'..... Seriously if it is cheating i will fucking 'kill the guy who cheats again'. ITS VERY ANNOYING !!

But the one who 'loses' connection gets a 'walkover' with 3-0? And end up losing cash and rating. (Or?)

The username who cheated at me was "owes79" with Liverpool.

Had a quik match the other day winning comforably with 5 mins or so to go i get the lost connection to server message!

After reading all the trouble on here bout cheatwrs i sent the blole a message straight away to have a go! He sends bak must be the server?! Got no money check match results and nothing there! No 3 nil either way!

Cheating?!

I think if it says "connection to server lost" or whatever the message is, its a failure on your connection, i dont think there is a way to "cheat" like that

The guy could have pulled his connection, but the connection could have just dropped. It could be either end.

I think people are jumping the gun on cheating like this. Not every disconnect is someone cheating. Maybe they're quitting but you should win 3-0 and get the money.

I still don't believe someone can PURPOSELY end an online game and have THEM win 3-0 and win the money and the other person nothing.

Yes i was thinking how can someone make you lose the conncetion to your end? But imagine playing and after 500 matches to proceed to the knockout stage for the 4th time in ML OPEN, and thinking ok good at least i will get 200.000 if i lose, and at the end after i was winning 2-0 and thinking, oh good another 80.000 to 100.000 extra for an extra match, and bangg the Lost Connection to server happens.
At the end I DID NOT GET ANYTHING !! AND HAPPEN TO ME TO CONSECUTIVE TIMES IN ML OPEN COACH MODE.

All in all i lost about 600.000 to 700.000 for nothing, and thinking why i even joined the competition!!

This maybe coukd be done by possibly uploading a large file on your PC/laptop, using up most of the connection, causing the server not to respond. Not that I know this of course, that seems the only possibility in my head.

it's not cheating its your connection. If you are wireless i have found some glitches with PES 2011. Also occasionally if your PSN account signs itself out it will give you the same message and say lost connection to server.

THE PROBLEM .... konami only have servers in certain areas of the world .... so too bad if you are in Australia, south america and eastern europe. ...

It's happened to me loads of times, I'm wired, have 22MB broadband, and from the UK. It's cheating foreigners that are ruining the game for everyone.

It is not cheating as it is your computer/console that has lost the connection. Konami servers cannot handle a lot of players and if there are too many then it will lose connections.

If the following things happen then the Konami servers are slow:
  1. It takes a long time to log in to the Konami servers.
  2. It takes a long time to start a game
  3. It takes a long time after the game is finished to return to the main menu.
  4. It takes a long time to do everything that uses Konami servers.

Its happened to me loads, not sure if it is cheating but I'm same in uk, 6mb connection. It fucked everything up today playing some laggy french idiot who also had comms on as well which we all know slows the game down. I still believe the Konami servers arnt upto the grade & struggle with more than 2000 people playing at the same time. The competition servers seem to be worse.

Ok, then another question..If its the Konami servers, usually again i get a message that says ' The match was abandoned due to bad connection' or something. I'm OK with that..cause first the only bad that can happen is to play another match without loosing big money or points, just some time.
Thus if it was the slowness of the servers it should have this safety mechanism that will not totlly ruin your game.
So the random 'Lost connection to server' twice at 87' minute after winning must mean something else, like cheating..

P.S. I'm using PS3 ,wired connection, 6MB and i was not uploading anything and also did not happen to me before.

I am not talking about the cheats who can abandon a game any time they want without losing points. (Most probably blocking a port number). If the servers are slow before you even start the game , you will get a lot of lost connections.

OK this just happened to me for the very first time, just played someone was winning 4-0 after 25 mins... then the game stopped. I thought meh he must of quit... the screen goes black and says I lost connection to the server this has never happened b4, come back online lost 23 rank points, and my 20 game winning streak is ended... the guy was in D5 and had only ever played 12 matches... this is a disgrace... I feel like another hammerblow against me...

From my experience, I can tell yes, it's cheating.

Your opponent is losing by such a good margin that there is little chance to come back. Then he pauses the game, the green circle shows up and eventually the message "lost connection to player" is displayed.

You go check your stats and see that it was like the match hadn't even existed. And, even worse, sometimes you lose your points (as if you were the one who left). So frustating...

Bad internet connection in 3rd world country

Ok sometimes i have a problem with my internet connection i've got a 4MB line and i stay in South Africa. we can get up to 10MB line but its not stable enough yet so i've had to down grade to 4MB.

i must say even with my 4MB line i've never had a connection problem, i think maybe i've lost connection once. other than that it has been fine. So i think we need to profile cheaters because it they live in the UK with 22MB line then there's no excuse to loose connection.

but if someone stays in a remote part of the world like South Africa or Australia then those players should not penalised if their connection drops.
