Hi, I'm new to this forum and maybe I'm going to ask a question which has already been asked and answered but BAL is frustrating me heaps at the moment that I just have to ask.
My story:
I'm playing as an offensive midfielder, started in Rayo Vallecano, a mediocre team in the Spanish league. I was put right behind the attackers, sometimes a bit more to the left or right but always offensive. I worked hard to claim my spot and eventually became the captain of the team, I didn't get subbed ever since, even though I only had stamina to last for 60". After 3 years and having won the champion's league, spanish cup and league title, I accepted a 32k offer from Manchester City.
To my surprise I got put on the bench and had to work my way up again, as if I had a clean resume. On top of that, my coach wants me to be a defensive midfielder but I barely have any defensive skills. The coach strategy I've got to follow is "fall back to defend, set up a counter attack when you gain the ball - long ball - give Balotelli all the suppport he needs". Now this is where I fail, I don't know what exactly is expected from me. I cannot steal the ball (even though I try) because of lacking defensive skils and when I put up an attack, with success, I get a decreased coach rating, even when I have a 7.0 rating and a positive review that says that I know my place on the pitch.
Right now, my coach rating is so low I don't even get to play anymore, my coach wants me to impress him more during the training. But I can't seem to impress him, whatever I do. When I sub someone, I'm usually the reason why we still win this game, but it's not noted and I just have to watch us lose important games. It's sooo frustrating and also quite ironic when you first get a message that the manager didn't pick you for the game today followed by "you won the player of the year award!".
What am I doing wrong? How do I gain manager rating in this position? What exactly is expected from me when the strategy is "fall back to defend, set up a counter attack when you gain the ball - long ball - give Balotelli all the suppport he needs". I barely use long balls though, unless the situation lends itself to it but even that doesn't seem to get noted by my manager.
