Yes its long but trust me it is worth reading!
I think its fair to say that the AI in this years game is broken so I think its a good idea for us all to try and tinker with a few things in the Edit Mode to try and bring the players to life!
One of the gripes this year is the AI defenders backing off when you are attacking. This isnt the major one though which is the fact that they dont really want to attack! They seem to prefer knocking the ball around at the back and midfield at 100mph ping pong style without the real desire to score even when they are getting beat.
I have tinkered with a couple of things in the edit mode and I am very happy to say that, well for me anyway, they now want to attack and play some really nice direct attacking football.
Here are 2 things I have changed and the second one was something I tried after someone posted it on the PesFan Website.
1. Go to Edit Mode - Teams - Game Plan, then Assisted Settings, and then go to the Last slider and move it to no.4 (play more attacking or something like that it says). You can also set it at number 3 perhaps as this is a more balanced setup between defence and attack.
By moving these sliders it doesnt seem to affect their defending capabilities either because I am still finding it very hard to score goals.
2. (This is the one from PesFan)
The fix is to change the "attacking style" under tactics-team style (see below for details) - this small change makes a big difference. Just about all the teams in the game have this slider set too far towards wing play as the default setting.
Just a quick heads up on something I've changed in all teams that has made the computer AI much more of a threat and at least made this version playable for me (rather than just being totally frustrating and snore inducing).
Edit - Teams - Edit Teams - Game Plan - Tactics - Team Style - Attacking Style..............now bump all teams up by 30 on Attacking Style and Save.
Now the opposition teams play more through the middle, thus more direct and more threatening. They still go wide when the option is available but it isn't the only option, which is the case without this fix. Now I am conceding a hell of a lot more goals as the comp tries more through balls and deft passes, whilst being more direct and attacking.
Found it also improves a couple of other problems with the game:
* More open game in the centre of the park as the oppostion push forward, a little more room to move, and involves the midfield more in the game.
* Havn't seen the "pass the ball between the defenders for half an hour" unless they are leading close to fulltime (I think because by playing through the middle more there is more passing options for them further up the field to exploit).
* Through balls more accurate due to more open space to operate in midfield/able to dwell on ball longer.
It won't fix ref problems, fast game speed etc but at least it has saved a game for me that was virtually unplayable.
I really urge you all to edit these settings. Trust me it really does improve the game a lot. You will no longer get the computer AI passing the ball about relentlessly at the back and midfield. They really try to attack you and play some great football.
The only problem with this is, well I am nearly sure on this anyway, is that you will have to edit all the teams and then start a new Master League as I think this doesnt apply to the teams when you have already started one.
I played 2 Exhibition Games against Barcelona and Man Utd after editing them this way.
The first against Man Utd I was playing with Celtic and was 3 nil down at half time without getting too many chances. I was lucky it wasnt more! lol.
I then started a new match Aresenal (me) vs Barcelona. I won this game 4-3 and was very very lucky to do so. I scored 1 from a corner and 2 crackers but the other one was very lucky.
Barcelona should have scored more only for some absolutely fantastic saves from my keeper. Messi was playing out of his skin and I had trip him a few times.
Anyway if you think this game is dead this is a must try for you.
I have downloaded Daymos and Cowsons OF for the 360, but after I have applied these settings to all the teams I plan on uploading a new OF if they are ok with it.
I dont think it will take that long to go through all the teams but I may be a while uploading as Im only get to play a couple of hours at night due to being a parent and I have also just bought the amazing COD MW2 which is gonna be hard to not play some nights! lol
