Im considering buying max drive. If i download the latest option file (with updated kits, names, transfers) do i just simply unzip it and transfer it on to the max drive and straight onto the memory card or is there somethig else needed as i keep reading about converters. Sorry but im new to this and i realy want to have the latest option file for the game when it comes out.

I dont yet have my maxdrive, but i have managed to find these words of wisdom on the web regarding it

1) Never move files from ps2 to maxdrive, always use copy
2) Never copy more than one file at a time
3) Always use the "decompress" (or something like that) when copying files from maxdrive to ps2.

If you follow those you won't ruin your memory card or delete all info on both maxdrive and ps2.

Thats what i've been able to find on the web at least.

Any one else out there got some words of wisdom on the maxdrive?

Max Drive is probably the better option since it is portable and you don't need to move your PS2 closer to your PC. But seeing those words of wisdom makes it look a bit riskier than an X-Port. I'll be buying a max drive soon anyways.

play.com have them for £9.99 including delivery. ive got an xport, my mate has a max drive, personally i prefer x-port, but like zyg says you dont have to have your pc next to your ps2, most people will probably have to move there ps2 close to there pc, me on the other hand use a laptop so doesnt make much dif!

BUY AN XPORT!

GAME don't sell the X-Port or Max-Drive, as far as I know.

I think they're only available on the net, you could try somewhere like Dixons or Comet though.

If you go to the home page on here there is an advert for Xport in top right hand corner, which I used to buy mine. Just waiting for it to be delivered!!

Well I couldnt order online, so I splashed out £20.00 on Xploder V4 set. Comes with Xlink, similar to Xport. Works great, plus I got a cheat CD!

not to be taken seriously
I'd tell everyone to get a maxdrive, I'd say they were alot better although I haven't used a x-port.

The main thing is a max-drive is a flash memory card, a small one granted, at only 16 MBs but still I've been using it to transfer scans I've done at Manchester library (I ain't got a scanner at home) onto my home computer.

Plus the transfers easy as pie, mine is actually a German copy ??, I got it cheap before it was cheap at play.com, and I can use it fine you just have to uncrush your files before putting them on your ps2 memory card, which is one click of a button with a picture on it so you can understand even when its written in German.

Personally I wouldn't even consider an x-port when you can get this funky little flash card that plugs into the usb port on your ps2, plus everyone needs to get them so they can tell me how to use the Sega Megadrive/SNES Rom emulator, because I can't understand that in German !!

Maxdrive - 1
cable that you have to plug into your ps2 and pc at the same time and then plug your ps2 into the wall - 0

My review.

I have an X-Port, and have had no problems with it, but it's a right cafuffle having to take my PS2 downstairs to the PC and hooking it all up, all for something that takes five minutes.

So when I heard that the Max Drive is portable, I just about laid an egg. However, I've read a few complaints about the Max Drive.

At the end of the day (good football cliché, that one) is it worth ditching my X-Port for a Max Drive for the portability of the latter?

My Max Drive arrived at lunch time today as i was eating my cheese sarnies! I was well chuffed. I'll be uploading some of my PES3 goals soon. Try and get them up before PES4 is out!
