Also from wikipedia
"Blu-ray Disc (2x = 9.0 MB/s) PlayStation 3 BD-ROM, BD-Video, BD-R/RE (Region free for gaming)"

I think you misunderstood that buddy. First party games (games made by Sony themselves) will all be region free. However, third party developers still have a choice (just like they have today) to either region code or not. Sony can't force region coding nor make region free as a requirement.

BluRay is big enough to put a lot onto it, and Sony's rationale is that developers will put one code of the game on the disk, but add many different languages etc... hence save their time (and money) with region coding.

So, Sony is hoping that every developer will go for it.

On the other hand don't forget that there are other things which affect should the game be region coded or not, most importantly software rating agencies and retailers...

im thinkin pes, but if its region free, surely it doesnt matter as import would require no language patches or mod chips

So if what your saying is true then winning eleven should release in winter for the ps3. Becuase we titles always come 4 or 5 months before pes titles.

P.s. Stop putting my girl's pic as your avatar :p.

That is going to be in the past because when the PS3 is out and established, I reckon winning eleven and PES will sorta merge and release at the same time as there would be no need language translation etc. and he can put J-league and that in with the rest of the leagues all on one version of the game. Or there will still be WE and PES but if is region free you can import it a few months before if they still release at different times or maybe it could change to same release dates. Otherwise if it stays the same format, nothing will change and patches will still be used, but i doubt that nothing will change.

P.s. O ye, I need to change my sig to 'My Wife'. :)

Ive always played the Japanese version more. I got used to it. Plus there are translations in the net for master league and other stuff. But it would be cool to have the J League and other Asian teams along with the European Power houses. It will give us Asians a nice challenge when we play against the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich. So I guess merging them would be nice too.

P.s. bah.

Yeah, I've never understood why they dont't have J-League and other Asian teams in Pro Evo, even a few in other teams would be nice.

P.s. You know shes hot :) hehe.

True...but I think they have the capacity tup all Asian and European teams in the game now. So After pes6 we should see more national teams at. (least 50.) This depends whether Konami are lazy or not.

P.s. I love her and shes mine period.

Taken from IGN which was posted just yesterday:
It is important to note that "Pro Evolution Soccer 6" is Konami's soccer title for the European market. "Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007," however, is Konami's title in North America and Japan. While the content is basically the same, the two titles are in fact separate. The 12-month exclusive deal pertains to PES 6 in Europe only.

So yeah it's exclusive for the 12 months not till the end of the year, but it's only exclusive in Europe. So Winning Eleven may be released in January 2007, but PES6 won't be.

No its not exclusive for 12 months. Even Seabass said that pes6 would most likely be released at spring (2007). Thats not 12 months.

Its just exclusive for 2006.
