More fun in Become a Legend

PLEASE, read my list of improvements that should be dealt with, before you vote!!!

I think that the "Become a legend" mode is too boring, when you play for several seasons. There should be something more than just playing games, and pressing "Next match"

So here is my suggestions for a better player-career on PES:
1- TRAINING:
A: The first thing you do, when you come to a club, is to train with the reserve team til you've proven yourself good enough for the first team... And after that, there's no such thing as training anymore. You only get experience by playing games and from the skill points/ aka "training", but you can't even DO or SEE it! Does he train without you? Yes! What if you could affect how he trained and what he do? What if you could do the excercices or play reserve games. What if you could run if you're in too bad shape? Would that be better? YES, I think it would (Y)
Some training must be done by you. I think you should be able to train between matches. The team has a coach, and by him you choose training types, how hard it's gonna be and for how lobng you gonna do that. The more and harder things you do - the better you get. Of course you'll have to fulfill the tasks and get experience from that.
And if you DON'T play the match (Weekly). You should be able to train, or relax in stead!
B: Different clubs should have different training facilities, so bigger clubs should be better and maintaining the players fitness at higher levels than smaller clubs.

2- AGE:
The age when you start is 17, I think. But young football players start when they are much younger. Not in the first team, but the YOUTH TEAM. There is a youth team in ML, why shouldn't it be one in BaL?
I want the football career to begin when you are 15/16. You're playing for the Youth Team of your chosen club or the youth team you chose in the beginning. One season is 5 games (10 weeks) with training sessions/ optional youth team matches every week/day, which will decide the stats you get when you're 17 (ready to play for the reserve team)
Here are some of my suggestions of what you should be able to do in this season:
You could:
A: Play different positions and see which works best. The coach can also give his oppinion, but YOU will decide
B: Train and decide what you should be able to do, like attributes and stats. If you train much in passing - you'll become better in passing and if you train shooting - you'll become better in shooting... So that YOU can actually train yourself from the beginning. The youth-trainer should help you with the most, like a manual.
C: Play with senior players as mentors and learn from them.
D: You should be able to choose a certain quality of your player when creating him, like "influential", which should help you get the captain's armband once you are experienced enough, "tireless" like JS Park or Fletcher, "passer" which should help you become a playmaker in the future and so on.

3- COACH -> PLAYER: I think this is going to be implemented in PES 2011
A: The coach for the team you play on, should give you some tactical help and say what to do... In the pause, for example, you should hear/see what the coach says, so you can do it on the field... He should also play you in the right positions if it's possible and use the best players in their best positions. And all of this with video/pictures (Videos are the best - 12)
+ more coaches with different tactics
B: You should also be able to ask your coach to be lend out/loaned out. Or the other way, that your coach asks you if you want to be lend out. (Number 17)
So, some suggestions on how you can affect the team:
C: It would be nice if the player could suggest anything to the coach such as maybe a new signing or a change in tactics and where you would like to play etc. And there should be a stat such as manager rating, team worth length at team etc. and popularity etc that determines if your listened to or not and this rating would go up if your captain or have been for an number of years.
To make it balance they could make it so you can only suggest players you have played with previously, like national-/clubteam and also it depends on the star rating of the play and the club, but think if done right could really help the game cause sometimes your team is deprate for a playe in a position but your manager has no clue what to do about it.
D: This is a nice way to find out if your valued if he takes your suggestion you know but also should have a down side if you suggest to much to often you get a reputation as a control freak/drama queen and popularity could suffer as a result.( Number 4)
E: Managers should tell the player what they are doing right and wrong.

4- REPUTATION/POPULARITY:
A) When you have played for a club in years, you know by yourself that you must have effected your reputation (+/-). And I want a popularity/reputation rating, so you can see what the fans/manager/other players think about you (If you refuse to send passes to a player, or have messed up every chance you've gotten) . Maybe they don't like you, and then it's time to leave.
B) For example if you're the captain for your team:
To be able to tell..
-your team-mates to mark the opponents team mates more closely or fiercely
-to be able to tell your team-mates to defend or attack more often
-to be able to appeal to the referee if possible
C) The salary should be used to boost your popularity by enabling you to buy sport cars, visit football parties (Number 7). Etc (like David Beckham). In turn, the popularity should enable you scouted by bigger club during matches.
D) Matches for your national team should be optional but will in turn reduce your popularity if rejected. Also players are
More prone to injury in National matches
E) In addition, the player should be able to get fired!!! (I don't remember if that's possible in PES 2009/2010..)
F) || Media rating: It's an essential part of a players carrier.I mean the news, comments and columns. But the bar showing media rating like manager rating may be enough for now. || (sedax)

5- BETTER SALARIES!! and far more realistic...
A) When you get an offer from a club, there should be more to decide which club you choose, than the salary and the club name. Or the salary should be more "complicated"/included. This could be added:
- Money for each goal scored and assist.
- Money for each game on the first team.
- Promotion bonus
- First team clause
- Relegation release clause (number 10 must be implemented first)
- Release upon less than 25, 50, 75, 90 % appereances.
- Contract length.
- A minimum amount of money to be paid, to let you go before the contract runs out. IF you play good, the manager will negotiate with your agent about a new contract. (Number 6)
* Of course, all of this is not a must, but it would be fun with it
B)|| In rare occasions, you should be able to even ask for the captain position (especially if the 'captain duties' under are implemented.)
C) There should be other contract conditions that can help you boost your fitness/form, like a luxurious home. Training sessions per week which will affect your stamina etc
You should be able to propose a salary but not contract duration (contract duration should be proposed by the team) and the salary should be accepted based on how well you play, popularity or how bad they need you. || (by Gideon3310)
D) The salary should be paid at more regular intervals, like after every week (as in real life) and the money should be used to hire personal trainers that would increase the strengthen points of a particular skill the trainers should also have Salaries whose amount should depend on the amount of additional points adds to your strengthen points. They should also be Fire-able (i.e. they can be sacked). The cost of hiring a trainer should be considerably high to make players target higher salary and limit the skill improvement level.
E) The salary should affect your form and mentality as it serves as a motivation to player well
F) When a club is interested in signing you, they should send an inquiry to see if you would like to join the team. This should pop up in the topics, with a big ![/] in yellow/red. The inquiry should be like: "????? is interstend in signing you, would you like to play for ????? ?" (Sorry for my english). And it could also be just a rumour from a newspaper; "The SUN reports that ????? wants "your player""..." Or that you can tell your manager that you want to be sold or lend out (Number 16)

6- Your own AGENT
You should have your own agent that you can select the name of. When you're getting offers from other clubs he could be negotiating for you so that you can get what you want. He should also be able to tell you about teams that follows you, and other complications! He should costs money. And also you should be able to send him on courses, to be a better agent.

7- MONEY:
The salary in Become a legend is useless and doesn't play any significant part of your football career but as we all know that's not the case!!!! (Number 5)
A: They've gone from ML, now lose the PES points from BaL.
B: It'd be cool to be able to negotiate your own terms and maybe have stuff to spend your money on, so you have a reason to want more money. In one of the Fifa Management games, you could buy things like yachts, cars and so on and you could also get yourself a WaG! When you choose a club, you get money for every year. But what's the reason with money, when you can't use them? I think the player should've something to spend money on. Like their private life, cars, houses and stuff like that Maybe a holiday, in the season change ^^
BUT to make it like a Sims-world at home, is too much!
C: On the previous game (2009), when you want to edit a player and give him a new look( or change football shoes), this is free. I think that it should cost money to unlock new stuff for your player. It isn't free in the real world!? And maybe add a little fee to make a change when you edit the player!
NOT to complicated! Football shoes should be priced differently, and also have stats/qualities. Like; some shoes is better for keeper, defender, midfielder and attacker. OR just speed, passing, shooting and tackling..
+ more armbands, necklaces and other decoratives.
Like the PES SHOP!!!
D: It would be fun to have the option to visit clubs with your team mates and when your done you get a random event.
And it would also be fun or more real if the player can give away money to schools or something and you see short video when doing that. Something extra outside the football.
Same thing when you buy a car or house, a short video for that too.

8- SMARTER TEAM-MATES: Maybe it's getting fixed for PES 2011 :S idk
... They can't just stand there, and look stupid. I want them to them be smarter, easier to play with and some of them more creative. The team has to play like a team!
For example: If you stand on the perfect spot, and press on the "Pass to me"-button. They will just continue to pass to each others. Without taking notice to your position.
When you have a lot of space, and you're "miles" from another player. They should pass to you instead of loosing it. BUT it's a young player and in most situations, the more experienced players should take action.

9- SUBSTITUTION BENCH:
When the player is on the substitute bench, you don't see the match from there. They should SIT ON THE SUBSTITUTE BENCH, and not on the main grandstand (Our view).
The player should see the match from the substitute-perspective(Only as a substitute) ... The coach should be able to ask you to warm up. And the player could do that himself, BUT you follow him and watch the match from his perspectiv. This should be optional!

10- MORE DIVISIONS and a 2nd DIVISION:
A: A 2nd division is vital for next year's BaL. It just doesn't feel right for your team to finish in the relegation zone and yet remain in the top division. BaL should mirror ML in the way it's structured. 2nd division in all leagues, for both Master League and BaL!
B: More divisions, like ML. English, Eredivisie, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga. More teams to choose from

11- PLAYER MOVES:
After scoring a goal, let's be able to control our player! If you want to run around like a nutter, you can and each button on the pad could be used for a different action, like jumping, sliding, blow a kiss to the crowd and a couple of buttons could be used to trigger the celebration you've chosen in your player's appearances section.

12- INTERVIEWS:
When you are top scorer/ assister, you often see a picture of you doing a interview. But what do you say?. I think you should be able to tell the reporters what you think... And don't make it too complicated.

13- MORE VIDEO/PICTURES:
A: ...... Pictures and videos are fun. Maybe an improvement here? We need more!
B: When you sign for a club, there should be a video of you holding your new shirt or meeting your new team-mates/manager/fans. ++++
|| There should be addition of more video or cut scenes as some people may call it during and after matches, and most especially
After winning a competition, Gideon was particularly intrigued when he saw the world best award video in PES 2009.
1) Before matches they should be able to show the players in their dressing room nervous, anxious or preparing for an important match
2) During matches they should be able to show the coach on the side line, celebrating a goal, or showing frustration when you or your team-mates miss a very good opportunity
3) At the end of matches, they can show the opponents team mates struggling to get your jersey especially when you have high popularity. They can also show a cut scene of interview with you when you score a hat trick.
4) They should be showing the award ceremony of the highest goal scorer, highest assist, best mid fielder etc after a competition followed with the team's celebration. The video at the end of competitions usually use to be very short. There should also always be a section where you can see the awarded players (this was particularly lacking in PES 2009)
5) Well known coaches should be introduced on the side line in the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Ancettoloti, Rafael Benitez,Jose Morinho, and other popular coaches. This would even intrigue gamers more || (By Gideon3310)

14- DUAL CITIZENSHIP:
If you are born in for example Belgia, but lives in Japan. You should be able to choose which country you want to play for...

15- BETTER BUTTONS:
A: Controllable camera: When you play with the "player"-camera, it's hard to get the ball from one side and shoot/pass it to another side. So I suggest controllable cameras, or a better camera-view. The buttons I've thought of, is LT/L2 and the right analog.
B: Easier to press "pass to me" button. I think it's to hard to press two times and it's too slow. The player does it about two seconds after you press it. So Konami should change to a more suitable button. Cause you have to press is fast when you are in a good position. I think of LT/L2 as a suitable button, together with X. Then, it's easier to run fast while press the "pass to me" button and maybe controlling the camera... (A)
C: A button like the one in the online mode, LB / L1, should be the player response button. Which you can say wtuff to the other players in your team with. eg when a player misses, you could say: "You almost had it" or "You should've" passed to me!". And when YOU miss, you could say like: "I should've scored", "Sorry guys, I should've pass" or "Great work, team" Wouldn't that be cool. And the other players could of course respond back, but that can wait. It would be awesome with both, though.

16- HARDER TO GAIN ATTRIBUTES:
It's to easy to get a player up to an average of 90 when you're only 24 years e.g. So I want the number of points you get from focus points to be lower, and also on match experience. But of course, you have to gain most from playing 1st team matches. (Number 1)

17- ON LOAN:
When I play Become a legend, I always ask myself, time after time. Why am I playing, even though I'm 17??
And that's an important question!
Let's think about it, first of all. How likely is it that a player at an age of 17 plays regularly on a first team in eg. Premier League? How often do we see that? I can answer that easy: Not very likely and often. Because they prefer older players.
So, my suggestion is; A loan option. Isn't it better to be on loan at another club than playing on the reserve team? YES, and I hope you also understand me. Because that happens often today. (Number 3)
In addition, I also wanna start a reserve league in each league. So YOU, as a player, can play often at a young stage of your football career. And by that, I think that club manager in BaL, shouldn't let young players play so often. But only if they're VERY talented or if some players are injured. + More injuries, especially in the English league.

18 - MORE ACCURATE RANKINGS:
The title says the most..
Club and national team rankings; When a team wins a lot of matches, they must get a better ranking.

SOO, what do YOU think??

It sounds kinda corny but i always thought it would be cool if they made a seperate BAL story mode, With cut scenes etc like a movie

Re: Suggestions, I often find myself wanting to scream at the manager to stop playing me at WF when I come off the bench. My natural position is a deep-lying playmaker (DMF/CMF), and I hate playing out wide. I wouldn't mind getting stuck at CF in a pinch, but when I do come on for our CF (playing a 4-3-3), one of the tiny wingers will be moved to CF and I'll be put in their place! None of my characters are at all suited to offensive wing play, and the only time I don't start is when my condition is poor, so I usually wind up getting a subpar rating, all thanks to the manager's ineptitude. It INFURIATES me, and it's a total vicious cycle. When I join a club (or perhaps after being tried out in a different position), I should be able to tick a box that tells the manager where I don't want to play.

I think that the "Become a legend" mode is too boring, when you play for several seasons. There should be something more than just playing games, and pressing "Next match"

So here is my suggestions for a better player-career on PES:

2- AGE:
The age when you start is 17, I think. But young football players start when they are much younger. So I want the footbal career to begin when you are 15/16 years old, and plays for a youth team. And in this 1 year, you will make a start for your career. Like;
A: Play different positions and see which works best.
B: Train and decide what you should be able to do, like attributes and stats. If you train much in passing you become better in passing, and if you train shooting, you become better in shooting... So YOU can actually train yourself from the beginning. This/these season(s) should NOT be long. Only 6-8 weeks, maybe, so you get the chance to train.. And the youth-team will be a part of it, with 2-3 games which the player HAS TO play in. And he decides which position himself.. :) The youth-trainer should help you with the most, like a manual.
C: the senior players can be mentors... And teach the youth players moves and skills....

3- COACH -> PLAYER:
A: The coach for the team you play on, should give you some tactical help. And say what to do.. This help should only last in the 3-5 first seasons, and then slowly disappear. In the pause, for example. You should hear/see what the coach says, so you can do it on the field... And all this with video/pictures (Videos are the best - 12)
+ more coaches with different tactics ;)

4- SUGGESTIONS: (From the player)
A: It would be nice if the player could suggest anything to the coach such as maybe a new signing or a change in tactics and where you would like to play etc. And there should be a stat such as manager rating, team worth length at team etc. and popularity etc that determines if your listened to or not and this rating would go up if your captain or have been for an number of years.

SOO, what do YOU think??

Totally agree!!

In addition to those good points;

there should be 6 leagues in BaL instead of 4.

there should be spanish commentary (When i am playing for a french club, i use french commentary, but i cant use spanish commentary for a spanish club :(

Again, u shud be able to do more stuff in training, that can improve ur stats, like in master league.

i was going to start my own thread regarding what improvements i think were needed in BAL, but now there is no point, because you have mentioned all of them. whilst reading, i came up with a few more improvements:

you should be called up for charity matches or Europe XI v World XI matches once you are a top class player. in charity matches, 100 points (lets hope it changes to £1000) from your salary should go to charity.

players shouldn't exactly be called into the first team squad when their rating is 55. i normally get frustrated when not playing or when getting substituted, but i created a new legend (literally...Zico) and was thinking "my rating is only 55 when all other players are at least about 68". that is why we need youth teams and reserve teams, not just for BAL but for ML too (i've mentioned this a couple of times before)

once you break into the first team, the popularity with your manager should reset, and at certain levels, he should tell you how important you are to the club, like "useful" or "indispensable".

you should be able to choose a certain quality of your player when creating him, like "influential", which should help you get the captain's armband once you are experienced enough, "tireless" like JS Park or Fletcher, "passer" which should help you become a playmaker in the future and so on.

different clubs should have different training facilities, so bigger clubs should be better and maintaining the players fitness at higher levels than smaller clubs.

im sure all of us choose 'A' as our injury proneness. if the player one day gets inujured and is out cold for a number of months, it should go down to 'B' and eventually 'C'. when at 'C', players should pull up or fall down every four five months or so due to the pulling of a muscle in their legs.

managers should tell the player what they are doing right and wrong.

any more opinions?

Thank you so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it... I've added some updates, and I've added your suggestions to the thread, scholsey, The Eristic and Emmason. Will be waiting for PES 2011 before I add / remove something after I've played the new game. And fyi, I will only remove the things that get implemented only if I don't have anything to add. If you have a pesfan-account, please vote for my suggestion: http://forums.pesfan.com/showthread.php?t=222945. And thanks again :]

i totally agree with your idea of a youth team and start of with a 15 year old player but with a youth league U-17 where you can play in a team for example Arsenal
so you can play young Arsenal against young Manchester united

Top
