I always like to use 4-4-2 diamond with side attack. Its seems to work well for me.

Never really tried other formation yet. But i think playin different formation will bring a fresh look to the game. What's your fav. formation and strategy?

4-4-2 Diamond
3-5-2 with 2DMFs.
3-4-3 diamond.

Plus some very strange and funky ones I've created myself.....

2 CBs, 2 DMFs, 2 CMFs, 2 OMFs and 2 CFs all in a line of pairs down the centre of the pitch.

2 CBs, 3 DMFs, 2 SMFs, 1 OMF and 2 CFs.
Crazy stuff...... :)

Yea, just back the middle, fustrates my mates all the time with shit like that. Best 1 Ive found is the liverpool formation from PES1 and 2 4-2-2-2. Don't know why they change it in PES3.

On my ML team I have 3-3-2-2 (i.e. 3 CBs, 1 DMF, 2 wingbacks, 2 OMF, 2 STR). Constant attacking if you always want to win the second ball.

i like the 3-4-3 diamond with counter attacking... and in defense my SMFs drop right back to help in defense and my OMF + CFs are reaady and waiting for a counter attack..

Guys, I didn't follow through completely....not about the formations - about the stragegies.
What do you mean that you play "side attack"? Do you activate those strategies in-game or do you choose them before, and basically please help me sort this strategy crap out!!!

It's under "quick settings" or something. Pause the game, go to the Formation screen and there it is. You can change these at any point in the game. They alter the attack/defence bias of your players from "all defence" to "all attack".

ZYGALSKI YOU KEERAAZY CAT!!! Just beaten France, as Brazil with the 2-2-2-2-2 formation. Difficulty ****, time 15 mins, variable condition, score 2-0!!! Walked all over 'em, too! Is this formation widely known/used and is it just a weakness the France team has?; - "eet eez not art"

i use 3-3-1-3

3 CBs
3 DMFs
1 CMF
3 Fs (1 CF + 2 WFs)

10 min match -> best score 8-0,
5 min match -> 5-0

perfect formation. won all titles in D2 league and lost 1 goal only, won all D1 titles without losing any goal, really amazing.

Played mate! :cool:
I'm not sure if it's a weakness just for them. Have a go using it against Argentina and Brazil and let us know how it goes.

3 CBT's - using Line Defence.

2 DMF - one in a holding role (Mark Settings to CV), the other linking up with attacking players.

2 SMF - both hugging the touchline up and down the pitch (using Attack arrows)

1 OMF - moving up and down the centre of the pitch (using Attack arrows)

2 CF - each moving laterally across the pitch, or dropping deep to receive the ball (again, using Attack arrows).

Manual Strategies:
/\ = Centre Attack
O = Opposite side Attack
X = Counter Attack
[] = Off-side trap

I tend to go with the 4-4-2 diamond formation with the majority of teams. I find it the most effective, for me anyway.
