I have been a massive fan of PES for a long time, stretching all the way back to the SNES titles over 8 years ago. Since, I have purchased the game on many different systems like PS1, PS2, PSP and now PS3. After spending so much money on Konami's franchise over the years, I feel I am well within my rights to give an honest and frank opinion of the current PES2008 title. Along with all the other hundreds of thousands of PES fans who have been venting their disapproval on many blogs since the game's UK arrival last Friday, I, like them, feel incredibly disappointed by the latest offering from Konami. The game feels rushed and to me, half finished. Resulting in game play which at times is frankly unplayable.

Let me start with the first and most important issue: Frame rate. I can't believe that a company the size of Konami has allowed a game to go on sale with such appalling lagging. During busy action in the box and relays, the game goes into meltdown and becomes so jerky you can barely see what's going on. Something that I find astonishing, when taking the power of the PS3 into consideration. This is totally unacceptable.

The second issue is the much publicised 'EXTENSIVE EDIT MODE', which for some reason offers less editing options that any of the previous PES titles. No boot edit. No badge edit. No proper kit edit (8 slots available for kit scans? Come on! That's infinitely worse than the PS2 version which has 60GB less storage space!!). The only thing we do have a lot of control over is the track play lists, which is a good thing as I can turn all the tracks OFF as they sound like glorified lift music. The stadium list is also inferior to the PS2 version, which is equally bizarre given the size of the PS3.

The third is online play, or lack there of it. As a games developer, if you are going to place a badge on the pack which ensures this game can be played online, at least make sure the lagging isn't so bad once we get there that we have to such the game off after less than a minute.

The fourth is the bugs which have seemed to crept into the game. Simply put 'PES 2008 BUGS' into youtube, and you'll see footage that many dumbfounded fans have posted up. Messi scoring with a 60 yard header, balls bouncing on the crossbar for 5 minutes, keepers fumbling every shot which comes their way etc.

I hear that there's a patch in the pipeline to solve the lagging issue, both offline and online. But may I suggest you listen to the fans and add a few other improvements to the patch, making the game so much better and stopping me, along with millions of unhappy fans all over the world, moving over to FIFA for the first time in 8 years.

Aye I do agree with you on some of those ... if you are serious about emailing this, might I suggest fixing some typos lest Konami are unable to read your mail...

Dont expect anything more from Konami other than the online and possibly offline framerate fix. If your looking for anything further wait till next years edition.

It seems people all over the world is complaining about this game. I'm still enjoying PES 6 and probably playing it for the next 12 months untill PES 2009 COMES OUT AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER...
