Hi folks, just wanted to let you know of a little happening that occrued on my computer with PES 08. I bought the game on release day for PC and have been playing it off and on since then. I played online for a bit but it was really bad for lag so I have stopped playing it online permanently. Due to recent changes in work requirements I had to pack some stuff up a wee while back, and in the boxes somewhere is my pes box and disc.

Now I just got back and I wanted a bash of PES with my mates with a few beers. But its meant searching through a lot of stuff that would take some time. So I did what a few other people have done and removed the disc check. However now my PES runs like greased lightning. Seriously its hyper fast, but the game time is exactly the same as normal. This leads me to think that some of the game speed problems people complained about a few months back with the PC version could be caused by the DRM/disc check.

I do not condone this action nor will I provide details on how I went about doing so. Suffice it to say the reason I post this is I feel that its information that is best shared, and I have emailed Konami with the information about it so they know how it has come about. I thought it could be useful to them for any possible PES patch or new release.

It happened to me a while ago, are you playing it in lower screen resolution and lower quality??? If so, increase your screen resolution and quality as well as play in full screen mode. Check your VGA card settings, increase the quality over performance.

It happened to me after I install ATI omega driver which suppose to make my graphic card improve, and it did.

No its not drivers or settings changes, nothing on the computer has changed and I verified it was the removal of the drm/disc check that did this. With a normal game install its normal game speed. Modified install with check removed is about 30-40% faster gameplay. Its extremely noticable that its not an FPS increase as the game has the same FPS it always has (60fps solid).

yeap mine too with that FPS, well then it might be something else, but it wont hurt if you try. Never removed the disc check in my part though.
