This is a good one as i have and own both now.

ESPN Pros:
1)Camera. The broadcast view is EXACTLY like a agame you'd see on tv.
2)Music. It's got decent tracks :)
3)24/7 1 on 1 mode is really good.

NBA LIVE Pros:

1) Gameplay. Almost evry aspect of what happens in an ACTUAL game can be seen happening. From Dunks to block to steals it looks fantastic and plays very intuitively.
2)Extras and unlockables are awesome. the shoes etc.

Each games cons are what's missing in their pros.

Gamespot gave ESPN NBA 2k5 (PS2 and XBOX) 8.4 great
NBA Live (PS2) 7.9;NBA Live (XBOX) 8.0

ESPN is released on 1st November in Europe; I thinks NBA live ships earlier.

If you'd prefer an arcade bball game wait for NBA street vol3 in Spring 2005

Im taking it ESPN NBA is made by Konami, so I'd buy that one :D
nope. They used to up to 2002 or summin but the game according to reviewers was pretty mediocore/poor.
Visual Concepts do it now and the reviews are much better.
Check it out at gamespot.

Even though EASports is NOT known for actually making a great sport game. I believe NBA LIVE 2005 is a great game of console basketball. 2K5 is decent. NBA LIVE 2005 is just i don't know...ohh i got it, exciting to play. that's the best way to describe it. ESPN is really really a sim where the actiopn rarely becomes as fast and as nail baiting as NBA Live.

If you want a realistic simulation go for ESPN´s version, if you like arcady games with action and spectacular moves all the time go for EA´s NBA Live.

The advantages of the ESPN NBA 2k4 over NBA Live 2004 were:
- higher difficulty level
- teams play their original tactics, eg Lakers often with O´Neal, Detroit with great teamwork
- realistic stats, eg Shaq doesn´t have a 70 % fg quote :D

1. Limitation on the amount of money which can be spent on player salaries
2. Dunno how they work in ESPN NBA 2k5, don´t have it yet :D
Generally it´s all about chosing young talented players from college leagues, usually after a season. You come to the draft menu, then you see all available players and wait till it´s your turn, then you choose one of them. You can also trade your draft picks for other players during the season.

thanks but u didnt answer my third question: is the prohop the hop step?
And since id probably do 10 mins per match for Pro Evo what would be the equivalent for NBA games or what quarter length do peeps usually spend per match?

Ash!
I'm glad you did.Hope is was cuz' of my enthusiasm for it. I made Jordan LOL! I think it's the perfect combination of arcade and realism yet. Overall it's a much funner game then NBA 2K5 (which I also have).

Dunno about the 3rd question. Usually I played full time on NBA 2k4, 12 mins per quarter. I guess 10 or 11 would be also enough. But you don´t get realistic results if you play less than that.

12 mins! i dont think i cud take that. Thats like 48 mins! cudnt take that! thats like 5 normal time (10 mins) of Pro Evo games!
aneway, what is the espn nba 2k5 version of the master league in pro evo?
Is it the franchise or is that multiple seasons with the normal teams?
