Start off by saying that I think this is by far the best PES in a long while and I am enjoying it immensely. Frustrating yes, but still such a good game.

My problem is with defending, well tackling the opposition more to the point. I play on Superstar so I would expect tackling to be a little hard, but seriously this is ridiculous at times. I'm finding the oppositions players are just waltzing past me at will and I cannot land a tackle. Only time I get the ball back it seems is if one of my players intercepts a pass.

I've tried everything the R2+X, holding X, holding R2+X and holding square so that one player stands off and the other closes. Literally everything.

I have no problems in scoring but I'm getting tired of leading the game 1 or 2 nil and then finding a player like Andrew Johnson starts to dance through my defense at will.

Please someone, HOW DO I TACKLE?

I'm afraid you can't, they took tackling out the game this year. You just have to back off and 'cut out passing channels' as people like to say. I can do it, but man it's boring and tedious, I never thought that tackling was actually a fun part of the game until I played this version.

P.s. As a Wolves supporter I would have thought you'd be used to strikers dancing through your defence!

Cheers for the reply...

I do get the backing off, and it works to some degree, but there has to be tackling in the game. The CPU manages it, you can see em step into your player and take the ball away.

I dunno, I don't want to keep backing off, it leaves gaps, and there has to be a time where you need to close them down. When you do though, they move it on or wriggle past with ease.

The only ironic thing about it all, is that when you play the big teams, their players don't tend to do it. But play Fulham, Stoke etc players like Fuller, Johnson, Sidwell are like footballers with Gods in their toes.

PS You ain't wrong, but it's not just strikers that are welcome, the invite is open to all players ;)

Or try online gaming. Human players are not as skilled as the cpu, making it quite easy to tackle:) Offline it is very hard indeed. After a while you just use methods as described above to win back the ball

Cheers PesTuts, that is a really useful video... I was locking on with X and repeatedly releasing R2 to close down. I'll try it the other way around now, see what happens.

@Poker yeah mate I don't have a problem online, so I know what you mean. But I enjoy ML offline more so I want to get clued up on how to do it properly.

Thanks for the replies guys... Appreciated.
