They aren't putting it online for the PS2 or PC because they would have to make their own server, with the Xbox, MicroSoft host all the games and Konami don't have to worry about a thing, simple.

I'll try to explain people. Basically after seeing FIFA 2004 Online, konami felt that that was a really bad adaptation of online game and didnt flow as well as it did Offline. SO they decided that it wasnt time to put it on PS2 Servers. Also, someone mention that MS were providing the servers for Konami, that is true too but Sony were going to provide the servers too but they have really bad servers because they didnt put enough money into the project. You pay for what you get. Hence PS2 Online is free. Here is an interview frm last year about PES ONline on the PS2:

FIFA is obviously your key competitor, and while those in the know seem to be in agreement that PES is a much better game, it seems all the good work Konami has achieved with PES over the last couple of years in Europe, in terms of catching up with FIFA, has been undone by not being online:

It's almost like you've handed the advantage back to FIFA, which is online on PS2 this year...

Takatsuka: Yes, I understand your point. But if you will allow me to say it, I don't believe FIFA's online is a good example of online play at all. Therefore when we go online with our games, we would like give you exactly the same experience of playing the game offline. That's why we didn't take the challenge this year as we did want to have a bad online adaptation

for some reason i can never see images on Gamespot, are there any new ones that may not have seen? Not such a bad hands on report there, and why are you discussing online here does it say that there will be no online for PS2 on this site?

yeah but there's loads of threads about this, I was suggesting that we discuss the actual article on the site which doesn't mention anything about PS2 Online.

Konami should be ashamed of themselves for treating their customers like crap. Online gaming isn't the be-all-and-end-all but we ps2 owners have been crying out for online play since the first pro evo.

you PS2 owners should be grateful, think of us poor Gamecube owners....we haven't even had a european version of the game, just a japanese only release of WE6:FE, and despite the fact it was superb (and in my opinion played better on the GC's superior joystick) we never got another version....
still, i might buy an xbox for pes4, but not for online, i just don't like PS2's, and there's just something missing playing on the PC...
