Hey all, this is my first football game and I have a few questions. First while I'm not too familiar with teams outside the EPL, why are the rosters so out of date? Do I need to go somewhere and DL current ones? I'm on a PS4.
So far I've settled into playing on professional, 15 minutes, very slow and most everything else is on semi.
My problem is, I'm finding my fullbacks drop their marks when in the penalty box unless I take control. Then when I do most of the time I can slide tackle into them without penalty and regain control. Is this the way I should be playing it or did I set something wrong? I would like to see the CPU players defend in the box for me and in the end I want an accurate game.

Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid buddy, the CPU is not going to do all your defending for you. You will need to take control of them yourself. The CPU will help with having players in positions for you but won't actively close down and tackle them for you, unless you either take control of them or use teammate pressurise which is holding square on your joypad I think. The game would be a little cheap if it did all your defending for you and frustrating for others to play you. As a result, the game will aid you but not too much in order to actively make you take control and use your own skill.

Thanks Rat!
No worries, I'm just trying to figure out the best way to play. I'm not an online player so its just the CPU that will be frustrated! I guess I feel like I'm getting away with a lot of fouls when in the box and I don't want to start any bad habits.
In other sports games I play I can rely on the AI's ratings to an extent. In Madden for instance, I will play on the D-line but let the AI handle the secondary, statistically it ends up better then if I jumped in on the ball every play.

I wasn't tryin to be smart ya. Its just that its your first football game, so just letting you know you'll have to largely get stuck in yourself to defend. You can use teammate pressurise to go after the opponent on the ball while you cover other players with the player your controlling.

Try using jockeying and get good at having good position on the attacker between him and the goals while trying to close him down. Mostly you will be using tackle rather than sliding tackle. Sliding tackle is largely a last resort thing, but can be used also to catch the opponent unaware the better you get at it. As for getting away with fouls, the referee is dodgy in the game, so you possibly are picking up a few bad habits using sliding tackle all the time but are getting away with it.
