Hello all,

I have been a footy game player for as long as I can remember and will embark on the next chapter of that story when I get PES12 in the mail in a fortnight. I have spoken with others online and been told that I need to download and upload a "option file" to ensure that my gameplaying experience is the best that it can be. I am making the leap from FIFA to PES because their career mode is so horribly flawed and I am in it for expressly that reason. I have heard great things about Master League and MLO and I am totally stoked about it, and kicking myself for not giving PES a fare shake previous.

Any thoughts on were to find and what option file to use would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am in the US and use a mac, if this makes a difference?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help this lost soul!

welcome to PES! an Option File will basically just replace the default PES data (you know, with all the non-licensed club and national teams) with edited data from the people who made the Option File (some are better than others, but ultimately it depends what you are looking for).

essentially, a good option file will give you all kits and emblems for all the unlicensed club teams and kits for the unlicensed national teams. a good option file will also update the rosters and change the names of the "fake" players on some unlicensed national teams to the names of their real-life counterparts. a great option file might even change players' appearances (face, hair, boots, maybe stats) or add created stadiums, but again, it all depends what you're looking for.

if you look in some option file threads on these boards, they will all give you a list of what's included. aside from the essentials (as noted above), many option files will replace the PES League with the Bundesliga, and D2 League with the english second division. however, there are also option files with the spanish segunda division and the italian serie B, and many other options.

the option file, however, will NOT work when you're playing online. when you play online, you're stuck with the default rosters, stats, player appearances, etc.

as for instructions on how to install an OF, there are plenty of those around the boards as well.

hope this helps.

and if i missed anything, others please add on!

Thank you kindly for the welcome and the info. I am having trouble deciphering which option file would best suit my needs and restrictions given my area and platform. I guess I am looking for the most complete option file, i.e. bigger leagues, full rosters, etc. But I am a stickler for realistic likenesses of players so one that fits the above as well as including the most player faces, boots and stadia would be optimal. Also, I am in the US and using PS3. Any help on narrowing my options would be greatly appreciated!

ah, see, that's the thing; your options are very limited since you have the US version of the game. most of the option files here (and certainly the best ones) are for the UK or EU versions. that's not to say you won't find a good US option file, its just going to be a bit tougher.

if you're going to stick with PES next year, i'd suggest buying from a UK or other EU site (which can sometimes be a hassle). i'm in the US also and i have a UK version of the game and in the past i've had Italian versions. I just go with whichever region seems to have the best OF makers.

For the US version of PES, BATIGOL is correct... our options are somewhat limited when compared to UK/EU users.

Pelegrini90 has a quality Bundesliga/nPower Championship file, but due to PS3 failure he hasn't finished the Championship. The kits/badges/etc are done, but not all of the players are edited. Hopefully he can get his system repaired and finish the file.

Sergio has a very good Serie B/Bundesliga file I'm using while I wait for Pelegrini to finish -- you can save multiple OFs by using different PS3 usernames. Good stuff if you want to do a ML in Italy, as he chose to use the Serie B team logos at the expense of the German teams. Unfortunately there aren't enough data slots to have correct crests for all unlicensed teams.

There are also Spanish Segunda/Bundesliga and Brazilian League/Bundesliga OFs for the US version. Can't comment on them because I haven't used them, but I'm sure they're quality as well.

To my knowledge, all of these files have correct kits/badges/crests/player names for the default unlicensed teams. The main decision to make is what second division you prefer and usually that depends on what team you want to use in ML.

Quality. Thanks. So if I wanted to concentrate on the BPL/EPL would I need to use Peligrini?

Yes. I'm fairly certain his OF is the only US-version file that has the nPower, but I could be wrong as there are a lot of PES fan sites.

I believe the last version he uploaded has 9 of the allowed 18 squads complete (all have correct kits/badges). It really is a shame his PS3 died as he probably would've had a complete file more than a month ago.
