I downloaded this game a couple of days ago and started a master league career. Now, I am not new to football games but haven't played a PES in 4 years or so.

What is with the shooting? I press the shoot button and it blazes over the bar. I tap the shoot button literally as lightly and quickly as possible and I still manage to clear the bar from 6 yards out. I'm sure there is a skill to this which hopefully you can tell me but surely it's ridiculous to not be able to hit the target with the shoot button from 6 yards....

At this point I am controlling games, and having 60-70% posession and then losing by the odd goal. Also the through balls are very weird.

Quite frustrating all in all. Help me out guys.

I never had the ball clear the bar from six yards out when tapping the button, but have hit them wide very easily. The powerbar is very sensitive and the accuracy is mostly very precise now. Where you direct the ball on the stick is usually where it will go. It'll take you awhile to get used to it, and certainly more than 5 games. It took me around 40 games to get properly used to it on a consistent basis. When taking volleys, you need a lot less power than normal. The shooting is alittle overpowered anyway. There will be alot of hitting the crossbar and post aswell, which will lessen a "little" as you get more used to it.

The throughball is practically manual at this stage, which is better than how easy it was. You can't spam it. You need to get the power and direction pretty much spot on yourself. There is some but little assistance on it. It takes a while to get used to also. To get used to it just think of it as being manual. Plus, the new AI and slower speed of attackers makes it hard to use very often. The AI will mostly track your attackers runs now and also run at the same speed as your attacker(which is stupid when a fast attacker is against a slower defender. They've lowered attackers speed in this patch, which is unrealistic). So it makes it very hard to throughball an attacker running beyond a defender into space because you mostly can't as the defender runs at the same speed, and the throughball is harder to get accurate. You need to try to draw defenders in and get your attackers into space(using one two's, for example).

All in all, the game will take you a while to get used to.

Don't feel bad, you're not alone. I bought the game last week and haven't scored in the 4 matches I've played. To make matters worse, I didn't even hit the net with a shot till my 4th game.

I'm trying to not give up cause I remember how all PES games take time to get used to, but so far this is the worst version of the game I've played in terms of the first week owning it.

I find it weird that people cant score :S or are hitting the ball over the bar hmm.. just go into training mode til you get it right? use R2 for curled shots and right to stop holding forward at the goalkeeper when taking a shot i think alot fo people do that and it either goes directly at the keeper or over the crossbar. still find it weird you guys havent been able to score goals if i was in your shoes the game would be in the bin and id call myself a noob.

Don't get ahead of yourself, bud. I have gotten used to it. Banging 4 and 5 goals against man city and chelsea on superstar. It doesn't take much skill just a bit of practice, so don't think your all that great. The game itself now is for noobs. One dimensional, not much skill as its easy to get the hang of because all it is now is only pass, pass, pass, shoot. Rinse and repeat. Bit of a yawn, but it has its moments.

Whoopty-doo your banging in 4 and 5 against city and chelsea on superstar what you want a blue peter badge? Contradicting yourself when you just said it takes time to get used too and it took you 40 odd games and then boasting that your beating the computer with 4-5 goals on the highest level look who thinks there "all that" -_- , if you want to try question my skill just play me. the game before was for noobs who could just hold sprint lob pass and chip the keeper id say now it takes skill. PSN: PabloAlfscobar

ON topic for the thread, Try pressing triangle for a ground shot after you build the power bar up.

Do you know what contradiction means? It seems you don't, go look it up. How am I contradicting myself? It took me quite awhile to get used to it because the shooting was so different before. Then when I did, I could score quite a few on the best teams because it's not hard to do once you practice it. Proving its not some big skill you make it out to be. Simple, your the one that came on here boasting.

I'm on Xbox and I'm not interested in some dumb chest beating who is better nonsense. Your questioning other people's skills yourself, but whatever.

You don't know how I played the game. I used a mixture of build of play, dribbling past defenders(no tricks), exploiting space with pace and pulling defenders out of position to create chances, send players on runs to throughball them. I never used the lob shot. You go and believe whatever crap makes you happy. The game is unrealistic now as its just pass, shoot. You say it takes skill, while build up play does, I say its one dimensional and unrealistic. The game took skill before as well, but had variety to it which was realistic. Sprinting could be defended quite easily once you got used to the defending which took more skill than before. Admittedly, the throughball needed to change but it wasn't that easy to abuse either if you could defend well. The game just needed the new AI and throughball and possibly shooting.

Was this prior or after the new patch?

Prior to the new patch I was able to score 4-5 goals a game playing 4-3-3. However, after new patch I score now 1-2 goals.

THE AI is insane now. Give them 2 shots on goal and they will delivered whether it be Norwich or Man city. THey defend a lot better as well.

My only negative is movement. Shooting, at first was difficult, however, a few games in, you should be able to understand the concept (doesn't mean I excel at it though sadly).

This is normal. I remember when I first play pes 6 it took me 10 games to score a goal. However, 1 game for fifa to slam home 5.

GIve it some time and keep practicing. The AI is pretty good after the most recent patch.

I didn't say I could score 4 or 5 goals a game, I can't. After this patch the AI are better, attackers can't get away from defenders and the throughball is mostly ineffective unless you've passed the AI to death first and moved them out of position. As a result, your not going to score that many goals every game as you can't get the same easy chances against them as before(which is a good thing). That's one reason why its harder to score now. Although, the more I play it it is becoming easier to pass them apart now(not all the time) and get through on goal like you could before the patch, just not as easy as before. It's just all about passing now and becoming more creative with it. The better you get at passing, the easier you'll find to get through them. Once you start doing that, you'll score alot of goals in a game like it was pre patch, because thats what you had to do score pre patch anyway except it was just very easy after a while. It's just harder to get through the defense now to do that, therefore, less goals per game compared to pre patch.

Yeah, the AI shooting is ridiculous. They score almost every chance whether they've norwich or city as you've said.

How many bars do you use for assistance?

I went from 2 to 0 today and my pp went from +80 to +45. Granted, I've been playing with the default pass settings since I purchased the game.

I use two bars at the moment. Whats pp? Your pass percentage? I'm not sure because you say +80 to +45 and I don't know if you mean something else by the +. Do you mean 80% to 45%?

i know what it means and your full of them.

Whatever. I can explain what I mean but I can't control how you interpret it. If you choose to think that afterwards anyway, then go ahead. I've absolutely no interest is arguing with you about it. Think what you want.

PP was pass percentage and + just meant percent I guess.

2 bars and 0 bars are 2 different things.... O bars can be rather frustrating in the beginning...

Well I've managed to catch on and figure things out a bit, same as always with PES. Playing at Norwich in Masters league, started on Amateur and was killing teams, moved up to regular and still beating all the teams pretty easily so made the move to Professional and now its a struggle to score and win, but not impossible by any means.

Funny story, played vs Man City and scored right away and quit the game cause I was sure it must've been on Regular since it was so easy to score. Turns out it was on Professional, replayed the game and got shut out.
