Methods for you to play it are:

1. Getting your PS2 chipped (eg with a Messiah 2 chip),
2. Using a flip top lid with boot disk,
3. Using a slide card with boot disk,
4. Using the knife trick.

More info on these is in the Sticky for patching and also in the Editing section so check them out too.
The list above begins with the most expensive going down to cheapest. Higher in the list, the method is safer to use. It's down to personal preference on how much you want to spend and how much trouble you want to go through to play the game.
I would recommend the chip, Jag would say Slide card.

There are links for all these methods in various threads in the Editing section.

Basically but the Slide Card is designed for the job and you can choose what you like for the knife trick, so if you want to stick a screwdriver or knife or whatever into your PS2, it's up to you.
Slide Card costs a bit but is safer than a knife etc.

i can also recommend the no solder mod chip available from www.consoleplus.co.uk . it's extremely easy to install but you will still need a boot disk.

Ah right, thought it'd be something like that. I have just got an old credit card and cut a piece of about the width and length of my middle finger. It does the trick, but sliding back to the left after you have slid it to the right is a pain.
