This game is just plain awful!
How could Konami screw up the greatest football game on earth so badly? Pro Evo 4 was perfect - all they had to do was put in more teams, refine the Master League, and add online gameplay.
Instead, they've gone and turned it into real football, and that is what makes it so bad.
1/ Having free kicks every nano second may be realistic, but it's not fun. Games are MEANT to be fun!
I am not sure why you are looking for a football which is not realistic. The majority of PES fans want the game to become realistic.
2/ Free kick taking is impossible unless your sole aim is to give possession to the other player.
Now Kev is right on this one, you must be poor at the game. Because free kicks really are not that difficult, all you need is practise.
3/ No matter how much you press R2, every single player takes at least half hour to bring the ball under control when they receive it.
I am not sure where you come up with this idea because its not true. This have something to do with you being poor at the game.
4/ It's now actually impossible to sprint away from any player. No way should Dennis Bergkamp be able to keep up with Roberto Carlos. That's just ridiculous.
Sometimes in the game this does happen, must be something to do with the green stamina bar, roberto carlos does mroe running then bergkamp therefor his bar would be lower causing him to lose energy to run fast. Try a test then, start a game, give carlos the ball and run with it, get your other mate to control Bergkamp and try catch up, I think you will find he wont be able to.
5/ It's way too difficult to defend and cut off supply lines because the AI is so bad that the players run around like headless chickens. I mean, if I can see a winger running behind the defence the bloody wing back should go with him! It's not rocket science is it!!!!!
Your defending needs to improve then. Try looking at the radar, if you see the computer looking to pass to a winger, then control the defender marking the winger and cut out the pass, thats not rocket science is it!!
6/ There should be no need for super cancel. Just give us control of the player we're controlling in the first place instead of having him run in a scripted line. THIS IS MEANT TO BE FUN...
Super cancel was introduced before PES5. If you ask any good PES player, they will tell you that they use super cancel, very effective and realistic also.
7/ Penalties... oh dear!! I know it's a lottery but come on! I press the button only and sometimes the ball just balloons over the bar. I mean... HOW EXACTLY!!?
Always been like this, they should add some sort of disguised power bar for penalties.
8/ Why is it that if you shoot with half the bar filled it'll trickle harmlessly to the keeper sometimes, and others it'll rocket through the air at high speed!?? How are you supposed to judge it then?????
You only notice this when you first start to play the game. When you play the game more, you get use to it and judge the ball with the power bar with ease. The position of your player, bounce and speed of the ball before you hit it really makes a big difference, realism.
9/ Oh dear god, why does the game sometimes not play a crucial pass when I've pressed the button, yet when I've pressed X accidently it'll happily knock the ball into touch EVERY DAMN TIME!!!
The computer is programmed to perform a through pass when the triangle button is pressed, you cannot blame anyone except yourself for not passing earlier or pressing the button harder you pansy.
10/ If I wanted to take part in a stop-start, no shooting scrappy game of football I'd join a Sunday League thanks!
Pass the ball around. The speed of the game is judged by the way YOU play.
11/ This is supposed to be football by the way, not pinball everytime you touch the god-forsaken ball.

Arrrggghhhh, this game is sooooo good, Best £30 I've spent.
REALISM = FUN.
