im an old school player still using the d pad. ive tried a few games with the analogue stick but it just doesnt feel comfortable even though i use it on my other games. I seem to be doing ok with the d pad so far just wondered if anyone else is the same and am i missing out not using the stick?

we must be unknown twins in all the other pes i used the d-pad but before pes 2011 came out i had my hands on fifa 11 which basically is shit without the stick after playing for two weeks i discovered that you can get used to it so on pes 2011 i find that on set pieces and penalties the d-pad comes in but when resuming play i use the stick and yeah sometimes i miss shots but if i play codmw2 with the stick then i can play pro with it try it out for a couple of games i find that my thumb slips too far off the stickbut its not a problem ..

I'm old skool too! Analogue just doesnt feel right. I have to say I'm pretty good with the d-pad so don't feel the need to switch. I have tried the stick to see if I'm missing anything but don't feel I am. I say if it feels right and your getting results stick to d-pad but if your not doin so well then see if the stick changes your fortunes

lol me and my mate are old school too. 2011 is the first time ive seriously thought of going analog tho because of the 360 movement, too many passes with the dpad go off target but....... still being true to dpad for now. need a controller with a smaller analog where the dpad is and i might be tempted

I used to use the d-pad till pes2011 came out and I forced myself to switch, I played really bad at first, not being used to it and my thumb would slip off at times.
Took me a good while to get used to it but I am now and wouldn't go back to D-pad.

I think it's worth it relearning but if your happy and playing well with the D-pad. I'm sure your fine.

I agree with Zorac, I had to change back in like Pes2009 as my D-pad was so worn out it didn't recognize movements anymore :p Was cursing like hell for a few months with analogue, but I feel now in Pes2011 it would be good time to learn analog as it gives better chances for passing imo.

Analog is a must in FIFA, however in PES it just isn't accurate enough for me....

D-Pad is the way!

I've always played pro evo since pes 6 with keyboard on pc never been bothered to connect a controller.
W,A,S,D for directions.
On the number pad. Num1_shoot(box), Num2_pass(X), Num3_long pass(circle), Num5_through pass(triangle), Num6_sprint(R1), Num0_player switching(L1), Num+(R2).

Yeah that's the problem I get I think either I'm too heavy handed or stick is too sensitive cos ill be running in straight line thn the player just starts moving direction. To be honest I've not noticed any difference in 360 passing and movement when using stick to dpad

D-pad. Always been using it ever since i first started playing PES. Although the stick allows for greater range in terms of passing, i dun really find it that big of a difference. It seems easier to dribble with the d-pad for me too since the stick sometimes goes off tangent by abit.

I am a typical keyboard player, and while I was really doing OK, I tested my analogue controller to see if I could take more advantage of the spaces between players. Safe to say that the analogue stick add so incredibly much, especially since I am very fond of dribbling and I am quite good at dribbling in this game.

Took me about 30 games to be in "control" of the new style of playing, with the controller. But it was worth it, and although I still have a long way to go in getting complete "control" over my player with the stick, it is definitely the the right choice for me.
