[on PC] write-protecting SYSTEM.bin prevents the game from deteriorating

I stayed home from work today (being sick) and of course attempted to treat myself by playing PES 2014.

At the beginning of the day it was lovely, even though I was playing on the Superstar level I scored many beautiful goals and enjoyed the game to the fullest! At the end of the day though I could hardly make a pass without losing the ball and was losing 4-0 to Celtic with Barcelona

Weird I thought to myself - how come the game feels much shittier at the end of the day? Then I remembered I read this at evo-web once upon:

I repeat, if you want a completely new and pleasant PES2013 experience, delete your OPTION.bin (or move it to a backup folder) then start the game, pick your settings and load or start a new ML. Get to the first match, then ALT-TAB out and put write protection on your new OPTION.bin. (the game creates a fresh one on startup if there isn't one present)

Now, the friendly AI won't deteriorate anymore, and opponent AI won't cheat you anymore. THIS IS THE CURE FOR PES 2013! (and most likely any other PES using this engine). Simple, yet effective.

Now, could this be true for PES 2014 as well?

I quickly figured out that the files PES 2014 uses to store information about your previous wins/losses etc. are called "SYSTEM.bin" and "SSHOT01.bin" (stored under My Documents\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 2014\save).

I tried deleting them (and hey, there want all my saved settings as well), but after re-starting the game and re-entering all my settings etc. I tried playing the same game (Celtic vs. Barcelona) again, and now it felt much different - i.e. much better!

I for one likes a good challenge, but when that challenge consists of lame scripting, well, I'm better off without. And if you're too - try the above method (and that is thus to delete "SYSTEM.bin" and "SSHOT01.bin" - and hence all your settings and history - then restart the game and reenter your settings, then quit the game and write-protect the aforementioned files, now after you restart the game again it should not deteriorate as you play it).

Oh yes!!! Thanks for reminding me. The game is turning out to be horrible at the moment, and I remember reading the same 'fix' from 2013. :) This will surely help.

Oh btw skickahit10, I tried this and have to say. It works great. :D

But one thing. You just have to remove (Or move to another folder) and write-protect the SYSTEM.BIN file, no need for the SSHOT.BIN to be moved/deleted. I believe this is the screenshot storing system file (the ones that you see on the main screen).

Do you have to do this process every time you start a new competition?

Also, my game is now unable to save after write protecting the .bin file.

No Damion. This just a one time thing. Your game will be saved, but you settings and your progress won't be. :) I had used this through in 2013, and it worked well.

And yea, ignore the 'unable to save' popup.
