About a week ago i've noticed more and more games having this sluggish feel when playing online. This is the exact reason i stopped playing Fifa, because it simply ruins the gameplay. Some other "fifa-like" issues i've noticed creeping in:

-opponent's players running through/being immune to tackles
-delayed button response

Anyone else experiencing this (i can only speak for myClub mode)

Yes, they are two totally different games (playing o line and offlie). Its not enjoyable to play online.

I also stopped playing FIFA because of the things you describe.

But PES is the same ! It's no fun playing online. The Problem is Servers. If Konami want to have a better game than EA then they need Servers. On xbox one Microsoft offers the MS Cloud Servers for gaming. The most Issues would be gone if they would use them. There is also lag but it's a whole different world instead of p2p gaming. Some games like Titanfall use the MS cloud Servers for gaming. The experience is the best I ever had online in terms of connection. It's fast it's good and I can't complain.

If Konami reads here also: On XBOX one you have to use Servers and you beat FIFA easily. You destroy all your good work if your game don't use Servers !

For me its clear: I canceled playing FIFA since FIFA 13 I always hoped they improve the game remove scripting and so on. I also hoped they would use Servers because they earn so much money - for Ultimate they could use Servers....But this never happend. So I read about how good PES 2015 is and I played the DEMO. It's a much better feeling and I thought THIS is the game where the better one wins - because only the better one who knows how to play will win.
But in reality - almost never the better one wins - because of lag, button delay all all stupid things like this.

If I win I don't know if I was the better one or if my opponent has Button delay so he can't play and I only win because of this. The most games are unplayable for me so I loose also against people who can't defend.

the scripting is becoming more and more noticeable and is ruining online game play. Its every game, and the gp they hand out in my club does not cover the cost of my team. The scripting is brutal tbh, your players stop making runs, their pace disappears, passing becomes very slack and your defenders run about like headless chickens. and the button delay kicks in when you're getting scripted on. Its getting worse by the day.

I don't think it's scripting. I think it's bad lag and bad matchmaking.

In many routers there is an option to not respond on internetping. This means all ICMP packets are dropped.

If you run a traceroute to your opponent you see that you get no reply on many players because only ping you get back is on your Internetprovider and this is always good. For example if you ping the Internetserver in Frankfurt you get good results... If you allow Internet ping or wan ping on your router your end get pinged the connections should improve. Some experts say you have to block this ping because of security but the experts argue if it helps or not. Some ICMP packets are needed for patmtu and things like that and should NOT be dropped.

If you play games like call of Duty (also p2p) and you enable wan ping (or internet ping) your game gets MUCH better. Many people say even on youtube that lag compensation gets beaten or much better if you play directly on your modem. The only thing your modem does is: It answer the ICMP packets - because of that the game gets better.

I have enabled "respond to wan ping" and get much better results in call of duty and games like this. In PES it doesn't help so much because the most players don't respond on ICMP and because of that you get bad opponents because the game can't know that the ping times of your opponent is bad. In IPv6 it's not allowed to disable ICMP because IPv6 won't work without it.

You can enable this feature and if you think on security you can disable it after online playing. I never disable it !

My last opponent for example (my Internet has very low ping times).
The game was lagging and I had Button lag like hell:

My opponent block "ping answers" so on hop 11 it's over and the game thinks - wow 26 ms should be a very good game for both - but this is not true - because 26 ms is the last hop who gets counted - and on his end it could be like 150 ms....

Like I said game was very bad, nearly unplayable and always with the signs of connection problems while playing.

anyone played points tally yet, lol, i got 7 points and got battered 6-0, the 6-0 game, i could not even pass, my players wer running on quick sand. all 4 games, the lag bar was coming up, each day this game is getting worse.
