Online Mode, why is my connection always red?

Well, i just got PES 2009 here in the US, and i have been playing so far like 40% online, but i always notice no matter who i play my little water drop thing by my name goes frmo green to red when i play someone(or orange, what ever that color is). What is up with that? I remember in WE:2007 playing online i would find peoples connections that were compatible by being green or 3 bars or watever it was.

It seems now, even if i do go to a room that is green when choosing from the lobby, when i get inside i am red, and he is yellow and teetering to red.

Whats the deal??? How can i not find people that are compatible no matter what??

Prolly has something to do with you holding yer balls as such (see avatar). Let off yer fellas a bit, cowboy, and maybe the PES gods will lighten up.

It's most likely because you're in wrong lobby, you're playing a poor guy, some foreign guy plays you or you have bad connection.

"you're playing a poor guy"

You mean like a little Indian fella in a back ally with a shitty old laptop and busted-ass wi-fi stick?

List:

1. You have a firewall blocking connection to players

2. You have a dial-up connection

3. You have a 2Mbit broadband connection which means you cannot host games

4. Your opponent has a dial-up connection or if hes hosting then hes not got a 4Mbit broadband or more.

5. Your internet connection is being used for something else e.g downloading on a computer in your house maybe in your room or another room of your house/flat

6. Your internet service provider (ISP) has some sort of connection management and they restrict gaming requests.

7. (Highly Unlikely but possible) Your ISP hates you

8. Your ISP has a Traffic Management Policy and you have downloaded too much resulting in a throttle of your connection at certain times. e.g You are limited to 500MB downloading between 10am and 3pm and have a 10Mbit connection but you download a movie which is 800MB between 10am and 3pm therefore your ISP throttles your connection to 256Kbit - 2Mbit for a period of time. 5 hours is common.

9. (Highly Unlikely) your Ethernet cable (if broadband) from your modem or router is not a CAT5E Cable (Category 5 Enhanced Cable) or better i.e CAT 6 is better, CAT 5 is worse. (CAT = Category)

if PC: Your pc performance e.g amount of RAM, processor etc could also be a factor

Thanks for the response scott!

Truthfully it sucks this is happening, i will try online again today, and see if i can get any green connections or my color gets any better from red.

Maybe its my crappy Verizon DSL....

let me guess your in America where Broadband is hard find and you have been stuck with DSL since the early 90's but only some top ISP's have dug up americas roads to replace DSL with broadband therefore the average American connection is 4Mbit which is just enough to host a 1v 1 game. But i could say with confidence not backed up with hard evidence that 1 out of 25 American households have no where near 4Mbit.

In other words us brits refer to it a Dial Up as DSL is the use of telephone lines as the internet. Its more commonly known now as ADSL. So my point 2 which was:
"2. You have a dial-up connection" is correct and the only solution to your problem is to find an Internet Service Provider that can give atleast 4Mbits or see if broadband is available in your area.

some games demand more. You may think wtf a game like Call of Duty or something would be worse but think about it. The ball. Each player. Messages. (PS3/Xbox) PSN or xbox equivalent. mic chat if you have a mic. now if you have a upload rate of 128KB/s then its alot. Also its game servers aswell however the pes 09 servers have went through alot of updates and maintenance recently so they should be good.

its more likely your opponent can't accept the heartache of losing 3 - 0. My advice is do not play anyone with a flat ball. If its just flat a little bit then fine but could mean they have really connection issues so not advisable.
