Guys, what is the deal with speed merchants here? Every PES beside last years made it possible to run past a defender, after which the defender was not able to keep up the pace. If Messi (in real life) dribbles past Ferdinand or so, no way Ferdinand is able to get back and overtake Messi. Thank god this is also the case in the game. The only people who complain about speed merchants are players who apparently do not master the defence in the game. I rarely get ran out by Messi. I just make sure he's marked, and I do not run straight at him, trying to 'X' him of the ball. Just be more patient and use R2 and X/Square. Sometimes it goed wrong, and Messi makes a great dribble and scores a goal. So what, it's Messi, the best player in the world. Off course you cant defend him properly all the time. The only solid solution i've heard here is from MozzyEng. Konami should make a lobby for teams that are not 5 stars.

And you think AC Milan is different? With Robinho and Pato on the sides, and the best striker in the center.. (Imo a better team than Real) Don't complain, if you are not able to beat Real with Inter, ManU or Milan, just practice more, because those teams have the same quality and also have quick players. Dont make an excuse, saying you only lose cause the opponent picks Barca/Real, because it's just your lack of skills. Practice more, and you will have no problem beating them.

I couldn't agree more - r2 and square is so great not only because it hold's up play which annoys the heck out of 'em, but that it forces them to play tactically and try taking long shots. It's also easy to master as all you have to do is press 2 buttons and the computer does the rest.
I know theres not much freedom but those speed merchant abusers deserve and and learn how to play real football

Why would you pick a medium team when your opponent is a good player who picks Barca? When your opponent is a good player who picks Chelsea, you also lose almost every time. Also you say the game is 'so easy' this year. You couldn't be more wrong imo. I mean, if it was so easy, then why do you have so much problems beating Barca? Apparently defending players like Messi, Aguero, Robben, Ronaldo is hard for you. Dribbling is much easier, i agree with you there. But the defence system is not easy to master at all. People who complain about Messi's dribbling skills just dont know how to defend yet. I'm pretty sure this game will be appreciated more as time goes by.
Isn't that the reality though? This current Barca side is one of the greatest ever club teams. Pick an average team and you will get thumped more often then not as would happen in real life.

The game is a joke online .
Cheap football and jew goals win majority of the time, with just a burst a burst of speed the majority of the goals are scored.Players like Martins are world class because of there pace.A lot of people complained about the catch up bug in last years game, but i was it's biggest fan because creative football was the key to success.Playing this game for pc you can just tell how dumbed down the game is.Nearly everyone can play good football because the ball control is a fucking joke and passing is also shite.It allows fully assisted passes online so anyone can play good build up play.Playing pes 2011 recently it really does expose a lot of the shitty defencive A.I and the anonymity of the midfield in 2012.Sure in real life shit teams stand no chance against Barca but it's a game and should need user input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But this year you can just hold the run button and win games.
Dribbling in 2011 feels sloppy compared to after playing 2012, but it so much more rewarding .This pes gameplay is just to cheap for me.
Last years game had to little A.I in defence, but if you were good at the game you could beast matches with off the ball control .But this year i end up relying on the A.I to defend crosses etc. because they go wandering when i try to manual defend with lesser players.
Full back A.I really is a joke in this game, because it's so easy to get behind them in this game.

Please, if a player like Martins is god against you, you just are a bad player. All those complaints about the speed merchant are a joke. How come I only rarely get owned by Messi, while u allready find it difficult to defend Martins? Just learn the new defence system before saying the game sucks.

Im playing it on the PS3, so I cant play against you. I'm not a great player, I just manage the defence system so i dont concede much goals. Like i said, i dont get beaten due to fast players, simply because fast players are very defendable. Its just very different than PES11, so if you play the same sort of game as you did last year , it makes sense you lose against fast players. Bear in mind only PES 2011 was the only pes with the terrible running glitch. None of the great Pes games had this.

If you defend well they will just run down the wing and send a homing missile cross and score.Even if you are using top defenders anyone can mug you of with jinking runs with Barca's top 3 by just keeping your finger on the run button.This year for the pc you can just tell how n00bed down this game is.Last year it was like 1 in every 5 you played a gooid player but now anyone can hurt you if they have better players.

with their condition all red up it will be a tough game for sure, AI cheat

By the way, i played offline games, but i do not think i
am going to play well online.
3 of my best mates played with me yesterday in my house and i lost
all 3 games, but my 3 mates struggle very much playing with Barca

Talking about online, and how any half decent payer can rape you with fast players.There's no football being played majority of the time, it's just end to end silliness.I' can more than handle these runners with top teams but it highlights the utter arcadey shittness of this game when using good players.Really is no skill input to go on Maradona esc runs, and then get away your hollow feeling shot on goal away.
I play on Xbox so I don't know what it's like to play the PC version, there may be differences. But I don't have these problems defending against Barcelona online. Patient defending and holding my ground and most of the time I'll just take the ball off your Messi's or Villa's, or force them to make mistakes. Of course it's gonna be difficult to stop them from scoring, how often do you see Barcelona play in real life and they don't score for the whole game? hardly ever and when you do it's due to the other team defending superbly and even riding their luck a little. I've never conceded more than 2 goals per game so far playing online and find defending very pleasing, even against the fast players. If you hate the game that much why not just go back to PES 2011 which you obviously seem to get more pleasure from?

I've played some of the highest ranked player on pc and can destroy there superstar players by just dribbling through there back four with shit players.

No actually you'd be wrong in presuming that. I normally wait for my opponent to pick a team, then I'll match them with a team of a similar level. If they pick Barce, I will normally pick Arsenal or Real Madrid or whover I just feel like being. If they pick an international team, i'll pick an international team on a similar level. If they pick Olympiakos, I may pick Bolton Wanderers. Or sometimes I might just want to pick a random team and play whoever they may be. And the highest scoring match i've had was a 5-1 win, my highest scoring loss is a 3-1 defeat, my last result was 0-0, i regularly have 1-0, 1-1, 2-0 matches, so again you saying it's just just high scoring matches is wrong. Then again I don't know the differences online in the PC version to the Xbox version I play. And by the way may style of play isn't just use the fast players to run through defenses, I like to play as realistic as I can, eg. if i play as Arsenal I try to play a possession game, if I play as Italy, I like to play very defensively. Like I say if you hate the game that much, don't play it.
