Ok here is my problem, rather than type it all out again i will copy and paste from an e-mail i sent konami, but realise for them to get back could take 3 days and i dont wanna wait that long

Hey,

I'm having major problems with getting my PES 2008 to work online (PC), i have had the help of several tallented PC games/builders who know their stuff and still havent been able to solve the problem, here a run down of the problem and what it is i've done to try and fix it.

My problem is i cant connect to any rooms (i've tried on rooms hosted by the before mentioned people who i know can host and the problem still exists) nor can anyone connect to a room i host. Here is what ive done to try and fix the problem:
1)open several ports i have heard mentioned with PES 2008 (3658, 5730, 5739, 7000) on both TCP and UDP. I have also manualy switch the port used by the game to another port and opened that port too, still no luck.
2)i have run the game with all router and pc firewalls turned off, DMZ both on and off opened to my IP, I have UPNP enabled on my router (have also tried with this feature turned off)
3)i have reinstalled the game on the off chance it made a diffrence with fresh setting files

I play many games on my PC and have never had such an issue with it before and the sole reason i bought this game was to play online with before mentioned friends. I hope you are able to put a stop to the 2 days of very high stress levels since the severs came out let alone the disapointment of not been able to play online for 3-4 days. This is my first self owned PES game and hope it isnt a let down, i really enjoyed playing PES 6 and hoped to carry that enjoyment into an online situation.

hey crazyreaper i have the EXACT same problem problem as you have i have tried everything you have tried and still cant join rooms.

I m not even using a router, just a modern dsl modern, again never had problems like this with all other games. pes6 was fine too with this connection.

glad to know im not the only person then, im glad u said that cause one of my friends said i should connect my PC/MAC straight to the modem to rule out that.

(yes i am using a mac lol, but in windows mode which isnt cauing the problem)

hmm...ive got an online issue myself!!! I cant even get past the the...testing internet enviroment!!! I registered online also. I to...have a router! what is the service name???? like..PES 2008/ 5730 ??

the port number the game says is 5739 that needs to be open, if u cant get past the testing the network stage then read the thread at the top, this is a little further on that that

If you can connect, be prompted to enter your username and password and then have the chance to at least SELECT a room - regardless of whether it works - surely you have correctly forwarded a port via your router AND given the appropriate access through the firewall or you wouldn't be able to connect to the PES network in the first instance? That would suggest a problem at Konami's end which I know doesn't help but still. Crazyreaper, can you confirm you were prompted for your username and password and successfully logged in?

Irish_PXzyan, the PC troubleshooting thread is where you need to go as instructions are given there.

yes i am, I log in like everyone else, get all the notifications like everyone else, i'm able to log in to the service view all the rooms, make a room, but cannot connect to others nor can others connect to mine, one thing i should have also mentioned is that my routers firewall log is constantly giving out this message (even when not running the game, dont know if its linked, now is the first time ive looked at it while not dealing with the game and its still there, maybe another user on my network so maybe u can egnore that)

Are you using a Belkin router by any chance? Which firewall do you use?

DoS = Denial of Service. DoS attacks are fairly common by bots trying to find open ports though this would suggest the client is trying to access your ports and the firewall doesn't like it.

yer i am using a belkin router, but now im thinking the DoS attacks aint linked to PES the firewall i use is the one on the routher and thats it, dont use windows for much so dont run another firewall

Search Google for Blocked by DoS protection and you'll find Belkin routers being mentioned so you may come across an answer by doing some forum reading that way.

Same as all the above posters. Cant enter a room & no-one can come into my room , even if I invite them .
No router being used, turned my firwall off but nothing changes.

ok guys, in stalled patch, didnt work, phone Uk phone line up, who were very nice and helpfull cant stress that enough, spoke to a guy and he told me the ports i needed open as i didnt have all of them open, so ports he told me to open are 3658 and 5730 to 5745 as thats the 16 ports the game uses online, so did this and it made no diffrence, so they are phoning me back 2moro fingers crossed, but he did say make sure ur ISP has those ports open (i know mine does as i have friends on same internet as me who it works for)

hope that maybe helps some of u

Someone has posted a solution on another site.

Go to your connections (network connections within control panel) and disable all connections apart from the one thats in use (ie your internet connection). Worked for me and my mate.

You'll still need to select green pinged rooms only and select them quite quickly or you tend to get an error if you wait around a bit.

SIXTEEN ports for one game? If that's true its ridiculous and leaves you vulnerable to DoS attacks.

hope this works :) about to go try, btw any played offline and found graphics bit funny since patch, mine are freeze framing even in the menus! gonna reboot see if that works
