Patching WE7i(JAP) PIMP SMALLER sized rip

As we all know by now, the original 743 meg PIMP rip won't boot on ps2's using the CD Swap method. Now that we have a way to rip that down to a nice 720 meg .bin that will boot with the CD swap method... my next question is will any of the patches work with this rip? MrSoutthgate's from EVO_Web doesnt work, and freeze my ps2 after it boots. Will the community be working to create patches that work on both sized .bins?

Thanks

Well, you need to burn it with mode2 enabled. Happened to me but it was ok.

So when you have a chipped PS2 there's no need to worry? Just burn the p.i.m.p. file of 743MB on a cd-r and play?

I'm getting my PS2 chipped next week, but all these topics are getting me confused...

A chipped PS2 should play all import/patched/(legal) backup games with no problems.

Make sure you buy a decent scart cable so that imported games don't appear as black & white on your TV. A cable such as the one shown as the second item here will be good enough.

Yes it was also suprising for me, but just burn the RIP of 743 MB on a cd of 700 mb and it will fit!

I mentioned this before..... image bin file size works in a different way to data file size. I read about someone burning an image of 800MB onto a 700MB CDR. So there's no need to worry about the size. Sort your cue file out so it's correct and it should be fine.

Scorpio - There are different ways of playing backup's - the most common is getting your ps2 chipped, then u have swap disks which is cheaper than getting it chipped but alot less convinent than just booting a backup directly with a chipped machine.

As the swap magic disk TOC ring size is set at 632MB it cant boot games which is larger than itself if u know what I mean. However, you can reset the TOC size by using a larger TOC disk but there aint that many retail original games out nowadays on CD that are larger than 632mb. However there is a disk called breaker pro which has a TOC size of 99mins, so using it when booting your rip u wont have any problems.

Thx for the info. I'm quite a newbie when it comes to all this technical stuff...

(And more of a reader then a poster when you see how many posts I've made since I joined the forum :D )

You need Breaker Pro disk to boot the PIMP rip mate

No you dont. I use swap magic 2. I may have to post a new tutorial in the editing forum.

NoNaKoS, it is against the rules to dicuss downloading games on the forum so please do not do that again. What you do in PMs or emails is your own business but you can't do it in the threads.

again no. You can get a rip kit ( I have the p.i.m.p version) from lomungtung which makes takes out a few files and lets it boot with SWAP MAGIC 2! NOT 3!

Wonder why it would work with 2.0 and not 3.0... Anyhow.. my 720 rip boots with both Gameshark and Swapmagic 3.0. It was also ripped down by Jay Jay's rip kit. Just wondering if anyone will make patches that work on both rips.

the PIMP rips does work with swap magic 3 inconjunction with Breaker Pro.

You see legally swap magic v3 only needed to be as big as the largest toc of a BACKUP..........................rips are something different
