Penalties and free Kicks

Hello all,

I am a huge fan of BAL, more so than even my beloved masters league. However I keep finding myself being frustrated by the fouling system of PES 2010. I play a AM and usually play point, I often get through passes with the R2 Button and explode towards the net as my player has 95 Speed 95 acceleration. However I find when I get tackled in the box (clear fouls only) I never get a PK, its so frustrating especially when your down in a game. (been playing top player since my rookie days)

Would diving help with this? I'm always cautious of yellow cards as they lower your rating.

Regarding free kicks...well...I just really suck at them lol.

Even i suck at free kicks. But this is what i did, i created a new player with same stats and free kick style as my BAL player from edit mode and used that player in training mode to practice free-kicks. It helped a lot in getting shots on target, but i still can't score

I've had one penalty in 350+ games. It's just a bug/glitch in the game.

Scoring with the default stance from free kicks is virtually impossible. Cronaldo and Pirlo's stances are much easier to score with.

I had 3 penalties over the last 100 games.

But what's weird is that the foul on all those penalties are minor foul (using X button). The Ref never give me penalty on All the hard sliding tackles that CPU did :realmad:

I'm pretty good in free kick (25% scoring rate) I've been playing the game since winning eleven in playstation.

here's my tips.

If it's less than 22M =
try and keep your kick power just a tad below half and hold *down* in your directional button (to curve it down). Make sure you aim on the far post.

If its more than 22M =
It really depends on distance, the kick power should a bit over half. Since the distance is far to cover, you need to have power on your kick so the GK wouldn't get there on time. I usually aim to the shortest person on the wall. But if they're tall, I aim to the middle and curve the ball to the side (swerve stats need to be good to work effectively).

To dive, Press L1 ,L2 and R1. Hard to get the timing right, and if you mess it up, you will get an instant yellow.

The key is timing.
Your shirt has to be pulled and the best time is when your player 'grunts' when getting pressured by the opposition player.

I personally don't like to risk it...

Free kicks I have found through research work best with a player with a free kick and shot power of over 85, I tend to just direct shoot it and hopefully if done correctly land directly in the top right corner.

I've also had some luck shooting under the wall on close free kicks, as teh wall usually jumps you can sometimes sneak some power shots under.

The penalties are another story however, I have attempted diving 9 times....and have gotten 5 yellows and a red.... >_<!!

but I did finally get a penalty on a dive....well...actually I got 3...in the same game. Was hardly worth all the rating drop though, there must be a better way. T_T

I've found myself getting frustrated lately in BAL mode, it seems as I get better my team mates get worse, and stop playing at their usual calibre, it then falls on me to score everything and...well...sometimes it doesn't work out lol.

Personally with free kicks i prefer selecting the style of CR9 so I can use the L1 R1 play and I shoot indmediately after receiving the pass. I think with this technique I can score unless 70% of times..

Strongly agreed. This is an almost confirm goal if u have good shot power and accuracy.

I don't know but in my first season i had 1 penalty(vs liverpool) (my first goal ) and 1 foul (near the centre )... in my 13th season i m sub captain of arsenal and i m kicking the 40% of penaltys but 0 fouls

I dont think it matters what mode it is penalties are fucked on this game and you will be lucky to get 1

You got to execute a penalty in your 1st season? Being 17 years old. Quite impressive mate.

Received 3 penalties in over 300 games of ML, BAL and cup/leagues/etc. And, as someone else mentioned, they're for soft fouls; never received a penalty for getting brutally hacked down from behind by the last defender, even though this happens at least once every 5 or so games for me. The lack of sense in red cards bugs me, too - you can get chopped down by the last man and it's either a yellow or nothing and yet I've been sent of for mild-to-bad fouls in the middle of the pitch.

Regarding free kicks, I think I've scored directly from maybe ten or so, now. If it's short range I aim for between 20% and 40% on the power bar, aiming for the bottom corner and with Y held down. No skill, no technique, I just hit it hard and low and hope to beat the keeper with sheer pace

I take all the free kicks and penaltys at Real Madrid now as CRonaldo transferred to Arsenal(WTF) and I score most of them with free kick acc at 87 and shot power 89 and swerve 93
