I just scored this goal... Pirlo who plays deep and is the one making these types of passes in real life goes on this magical super dash run up the field with no one bothering to even pick him up and in for the super finish. If this is realism then I'm Santa clause. Pirlo is no where near that speen nor would he ever make such a run. This was a CPU controlled run , I didn't send him forward, I just did the through pass ! KONAMI FAIL!!!

jenkey needs to fix this catch up bug, its ridicilous, and players are running with the ball like cripples, like 3 times slower.

It seems like there is the first touch thing like Fifa included a few years back, however there is no button to press, you just use the movement stick to tell the player which direction they should control the ball and go to. It's weird... at times I can make amazing plays, good touches and skin CPU players, but other times my player just goes all clumsy, falls over or just runs into the CPU player haha.

Switching players doesn't seem as responsive as before... I preferred it when they gave us the bar to drop down to out liking - however now it is either Semi-Assisted or Manual (which I hate).

Through passing is hit and miss also... Sometimes it will make a perfect pass (Normally when I play a One-two around defenders), however other times are exactly like you said... Tap the button and it zips past the player and goes out of play or to the keeper.

I do like the game - Although it can be VERY frustrating. Winning a game is so rewarding though, so I will continue to play through my Offline Master League no matter what. But I do hope Konami do put out a patch for the elastic banding - Because that is the one thing that annoys me the most haha.

I'm actually considering emailing them for my money back. The game is clearly not finished. I feel like we have been 'had' by the marketing department.

I played pes since the first and the only pes that I disliked were 2008 and 2009. The rest since has had problems but im not a fussy guy and really enjoyed them. This one however, I don't even know what to say...

So to play online I had to download a patch on usb and install it that way, not hard but a bit annoying as this is the first game ive had to do this in the history of my gaming experiences on a console. The lag I faced in the 3 games I played was awful (I have fibre broadband but aware others do not which could slow it).

Here is an example, now this sounds as ridiculous as it is, and it proves my point on the game being unfinished that something like this could happen... Basically, I got a corner and my guy was stood about to kick it and one of their team ran over and KICKED the ball away out for a throw in! I was in utter shock, I was laughing but sort of disbelief that something like this could happen... Anyway the whole game was a farce, if there is any sort of lag this game is unplayable due to the speed which players react to button presses. Offline it actually feels pretty good and is a step in the right direction but online its useless, which is where I spend 95% of my time, the other 5% against friends who come round.

The set pieces are a load of rubbish. Why Konami? Why take away something that was one of PES's greatest strengths and turn it into something from the year 2000, they may as well bring in the comedy red arrow from early FIFA!

I have so many examples but I cant even begin, and I have no idea what to do now. I thought, right Ive gone to FIFA before (2008 and 2009) when pes went through a transition but I booted up the demo and what the hell?! I hear people talk about PES being arcade, well what the hell is FIFA then?! I felt like I was playing ping pong it was like an arcade joystick type affair, I did not realise players glide?! How can anyone play that?

The one positive is that, at least they are trying to bring PES into the next gen. I hope next year when it jumps to next gen consoles they can sort out these problems and PES will be great again but as for this year. I think I may return my copy.

I wish you recorded that Corner thing, sounds hilarious lol ^_^

You can turn the arrow off by pressing one button... R1 ;)

I never play online so I cannot comment on that, I couldn't care less about playing against idiots who just choose Real Madrid or Barca with 50k Dial-up :p

I agree though about this game, it's a step back, but a step in the right direction (if that makes sense?). I reckon next years game is going to be beast! :p

It is happening again

That... is... BRILLIANT.
I wish you had a video of it.

It's funny, my general impression was that most people enjoyed the demo (FYI, I didn't!), and now most people seem to hate the game. Is it just that now people have delved into it more, the cracks are starting to show? Or is it that the gameplay is quite a bit different from the demo?

Meanwhile, PES 2014 came in at number two. Another new entry is Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning, as number 22.

looks like it paid off for konami this year

when was the last time a PES game went in at number 2?

Yeah I know! I kind of want it to happen again but I was so surprised because usually when a player runs up they stop with the invisible wall but no he ran straight though and wacked the ball away! The ref said nothing hah... :(

Yeah I liked the demo but starting to dislike the game, so agree about the cracks starting to show. I'm not seeing any slowdown in game like some have mentioned its just difficult online.

Yeah well actually you can choose who you play against now so Group A/B/C/D/E type teams so if you choose B and below you never play Barca!

The thing about the dots on set pieces annoys me more that others use it, a guy was total rubbish played me and scored 2 free kicks against me, its too easy, takes away the sense of achievement imo, but because it pops up all the time you tend to use it.

In terms of next year, yeah it could be amazing potentially, but the team have to now port it to next gen, which we all know they have problems last time with loads of missing modes. At least the slow down in cut scenes will be gone.

I just think it feels 90% finished and the could have waited till next gen to release this. I would have been happy with a minimal update to 13, really liked that game.

The corner thing happened to me yesterday, i recorded it but my battery went before i saved it (didn't realise it was so low!) i was United playing against Torino and there were three, yes THREE! occasions were Torino went to take a corner and Rafael was already standing in the corner quadrant and just took the ball and i ran upfield, embarrassing for Konami!

Here are a few more thoughts:
- At the time of my earlier post, I was playing with the default assistance settings - which are atrocious. Advanced shooting and through passes just don't work IMO. And without assistance for short passes, it's too easy to make wrong passes. The analog stick of a controller is not a joystick such as those one uses to play airplane games. It's just not accurate enough IMO.
- The most noticeable improvement in PES2014 is the incredible advancement in graphics, and particularly in animations. The animations in PES2014 are stunning.
- Another somewhat less noticeable improvement is the new physics system - players move and jostle in a realistic manner; the pressure on the ball is intense, and one is forced to pass around in a way strikingly similar to the flow of a real match.
- Dribbling has also been improved; mostly, it is now impossible to sprint around at all times. You only sprint in space, and unless you are controlling Ronaldo, you have to slow down to beat players - just like in real life. Tricks are difficult to pull off (might become easier with practice), but when you do manage to make a trick work, the satisfaction is immense.
- The shooting and goalkeeping system is actually quite good. One scores plenty of realistic-looking goals. These kinds of goals have always been the reason I have preferred PES over Fifa - goals in PES feel natural and unique, while goals in Fifa feel weird and scripted. I played around with free kicks in training, and it is possible to score beautiful free kicks, including blasts from up close and also shots with outside curl - like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4Jj1PTKuAg

The two major peeves I seem to have after a few days of playing are:
- First, the AI is as dire as ever. It only ever scores against me in one of two ways: With a run down the wing, a low cross, and a tap-in from two meters out; or with a magical through ball or an unstoppable run, in consequence of which an AI player gets a one-on-one with my defenders 10-15 meters behind the ball.
(- Also free kick sniping, but that seems to have been toned down, so that only players with 85+ FK can snipe you at will. In PES2013, AI free kicks were worse than penalties :/.)
- The other problem I have is the inconsistent fouling system. The AI fouls my guys all the time, but the ref never blows his whistle. Fouling frequency would be easy to tune up, but then the game would become like basketball or American football - ten seconds of play, ten seconds of foul.

All in all, the more I play this game, the better I like it. The animations are gorgeous, and the major components of the game - passing, dribbling, and shooting - are deep, natural-looking, and fun for the player.

Shooting and through balls at "basic." For short passing, I had it at the middle (two green bars out of four), but yesterday I changed it to 3/4 assistance. Can't feel much of a difference. But the difference between 1/4 and 2/4 assistance is huge.

Same as me then Probe haha, I tried all the advance stuff but it is awful.

I actually like this game the more I play it. I am doing well at the moment on Professional with the Master League Original Line-up... I will go up a difficulty once I get a few more players haha.
