PES 2012 Gameplay, AI and ML improvements

Gameplay

- Calm down with the scripting, its getting a bit silly now and in some ways its more obvious than the ps2 days.
- Full 360 ratio for manual passing
- Less assisted semi auto passing
- More control over through balls(power par is pretty redundant right now)
- Fully working manual player switch
- Players need to be more responsive when using the RT button to move around for air balls
- Tone down the pressure from the AI, or have pressure in stages
- More precise standing tackle, more responsive when timed perfectly
- Less automatic interventions, no auto clearance and more control over players movement, see forum member's Amateurs ideas he explains it better than me. The dribbling is on the right path but could be less on the rails.
- make an option for manual cross without having to use left trigger
- Improved spacial and overall awareness from AI team mates
- Don't mess with the shooting too much, more variation and emphasis on user input would be good, more variation in shot trajectory by use of the analog(ie pushing forward results in more top spin, a lighter touch loft and backspin this is in pes 11 to a small degree but could be taken further)
- Smoother transitions between animations such as close control and other dribbling and running motions
- Tone down the passing speed, more variation in passing speed depending on stats and user input
- More variations in physical play, do not go to fifa 11 standards as it will kill the game
- larger emphasis on midfield play, less constant pressure

Master League and other aesthetic details

- Improve the AI's intelligence when making transfers, avoid unrealistic transfers such as messi leaving barca all the time in ML
- Keep the scouting system, but let us manually input the transfer fee, more options for negotiation
- Add the ability to make cash plus player offers
- More focus on media in ML, ie mock news articles and a news hub
- Net editor or stadium specific nets
- Improve the atmosphere, chants don't have to be perfect but it feels a bit dead at the moment
- Improve the lighting and graphics for night games
- Flares and banners for leagues such as Serie A
- Bring back the snow, an overcast setting without rain.

I will add more to this thread in the next few months.

forget more leagues!!! fix the play of the game.

#1:fix the movement of players, it seems labored when you are moving. especially when engaging an opponent. The A.I sometimes don't recognize the ball just because they are not selected, or if they are on a run, they won't break it off. Or they don't keep their run when you are attacking, they break it off too early.

#2: give players the ability to handle lob passes better, they seem to not be able to take advantage of those opportunities. ( they cant even get a good shot off when the ball is dropping)

#3: fix the referee ( the calls are ridiculous )

#4: stop the A.I from slide tackling in the box (have them clear the ball automatically, within a yard or two off the goal line instead)

#5: allow the player to hit one time shots(offense) , or clear the ball (defense) one time. if we want to control the ball, we wont press square to shoot or clear.

#6: bring back the old P.K system.......no one complained, so why change it.

#7: fix how players engage each other. from jostling to tackling to keeping possession of the ball.

#8: The motion of shooting needs some work, i'm not sure what. it just doesn't seem convincing

#9: When players are running, they have momentum. If i run full tilt and stop with the ball, the A.I stops on a dime right beside me. That's unrealistic, how are you supposed to get separation

#10: Ball physics needs adjusting

#11: Cursor switching speed needs to be adjustable

#12: Change the name back to Winning Eleven...............The good old days!

There you have it, 12 things to fix for Winning Eleven 2012. Do those things before changing anything that we did not ask to be changed, or changing the menus which have nothing to do with football or even new nets i can live without. These are the requests of your true blue faithful Konami, everyone else is trying to distract you from the task of making the beautiful game.

Fully working manual player switch
Good point!

Well i gues its safe to say that PES needs urgent reshape.

1. Penalty system
2. Wide Camera
3. Manual player switch
4. Shooting control (like in old WE)
5. Tackles
6. Goalkeepers (Fifa did good job)
7. Ball physics
9. Better 360 ball control
10. Chants

The list can go on and on...

- Remove auto clearance or have option to turn it off, nothing should happen unless I input a command, if a ball hits a defender the ball physics should account for this, I don't want to see the defender auto clearing it away even if does hep you in certain situations, I want to be in control of the stats.

The above goes for anything within the gameplay, no automatic interventions unless selected otherwise.

- This is the same sort of point as above, I'm tired of players heading the ball when I have another player selected. Too often on this game another AI player on my team heads the ball without me pressing anything, this needs to be gone for 2012.

I agree with everything in here. Pes needs an urgent animation overhaul and MORE USER INPUT in everything ESPECIALLY THE MOVEMENT OF THE PLAYER. I mean when you're controlling the player, it doesn't feel like you have total control. It should feel like you have total control, but IT NEEDS TO KEEP THE INDIVIDUALITY.

Good point!
6. Goalkeepers (Fifa did good job)

The list can go on and on...

OFCOURSE NOT. This is the one thing I can never agree with.
Fifa didn't do a good job in the keepers. They are as horrible as pes' keepers.

Fifa's keepers can keep out the impossible and EVERY GOALER CAN SAVE THE SAME SHOTS AND EVEN IF YOU PUT PLAYERS AS KEEPERS, THEY CAN SAVE THE SAME WAY. :) I hate that.

Also fifa 11's keepers feel like they're superhuman at times.
Pes 6' keepers were the best. They made mistakes, but were easily recognisable. I mean there was a difference between different keepers.

QFT. No player in the game can seem to take a lobbed through ball in stride for some reason.

1.-Be able to watch halftime or final scores of the other games in league or community mode (with national teams)

2.- Be able to watch complete GOALS replays, until the ball stops moving (watch how it bounces on the floor after a goal)

3.- Let lopsided victories happen, like in PES 2008 or 2009, where you could see 8-0, 9-0 when a strong team faced a weak team e.g. Germany vs Siria) I even remember a 10-0 from Argentina to Trinidad in PES 2008. I'm talking about cpu vs cpu. Please Konami let these victories happen.

Shaun good point about fifa's keepers, I know at times the GK's can be silly in pes but at least they have individuality and feel fairly organic, FIFA's keepers are designed as a lazy way to make legendary harder.

I take back my comments about manual passing, its pretty much perfect the crucial thing is to position your player as well as aiming with the analog. I still think there could be more variation in passing speed, maybe the physics just need polishing up a bit.

I agree!

More control over scouting and signing system, such as goal bonus and transfer fee adjustment before making an offer.

Dynamic player form and in-game momentum is what I'd like to see. Players start off level (meaning a player with 91 speed can actually outrun a player with 78 in a footrace, or a 6'5" player with 96 body balance can't be repeatedly shoved off the ball by a 5'6" guy with 63), with their stats affected only by their form (which, btw, should also be dictated by previous performance, not just semi-randomly with a little influence the condition stat). The system would then allow a player with a blue arrow, by playing well (completing passes, scoring, tackling successfully, making saves, etc), to raise his form in real time, going from blue to green, green to orange, orange to red if he's doing exceptionally well, though with each step up being more difficult to achieve.

Also, an entire team could gain the momentum in a match, raising their teamwork and stats all-around through good play (keeping possession, passing forward, creating chances, catching opponents with the offside trap, and so on) and forcing the other team to work to gain the momentum back, creating a much more realistic and tactical experience by teams vying for control, rather than the on/off alternation between useless and unstoppable implemented by the AI currently (which always seems to be more negative in nature, diminishing the opposition's abilities, instead of boosting the those of the player/team in question).

Put all the players from the german bundesliga in the game so if we want to create the german league we can, why have few players from dortmund and such teams unlockable. Get rid of the classic players in ML and just give us real life players. Give us more players, I am tired of searching for players that are quality in real life and are not in the game.

Give us team logo's like nike, ect or the actual team kits template so we can create the unlicensed teams. Heres an Idea get rid of all the fake teams and put real players on those fake teams so we can create more teams.

For ML and other parts of the game....

Better Transfers, teams need to build but Ronaldo will not leave Madrid for Sunderland .

I dont know why we have investment in fans if the fans dont do crap. Make the fans show up to big games and show how many actually attended. If a team is getting blown out show their fans leaving. If the game is close better chants from both oppositions, there are stadiums where the fans go nuts for goals or bad calls from referees.

Let the players talk about certain up coming big games especially for cup games. its more realistic. I like the idea of showing us the opposition formations but go more in depth perhaps say "Manchester Uniteds star player rooney is sitting out because he got a red card in a previous game, or the team wants to rest him for their big game coming up".

Allow us to get involved in our stadium like setting stadium prices, food, tickets, merchandise to get us more money. Allow us to change team jerseys boots, accessories at the end of each season. I hate seeing the same hair, face, boots for 10 years in a season. Make the players get older as the years go, make them slower as the years go by etc.

Fix the penalty crap, because of that i refuse to take pk's!

Get more accessories, goal keepers like gloves, neck wear etc..

Show some momentum through games, some teams if u let them stick around they will become energetic from it.

I am sure I have more but Konami needs to implement these changes and I bet they will never have to compete with Fifa Again.

yeah

1) Remove AI cheating
2) Through balls are too overpowered compared to other ways to get an opening to score.
3) Being able to pickup a ball without stopping up, but be able to receive the ball in speed.
4) Add more animations for different tricky more advanced situations, this is one of the main strenghts in fifa imo.
5) More consistency when shooting. In real life, even when people are pressured pretty hard, they dont shoot high floaty weak balls.. or well, it happens, but pes has overdone it, probably in an attempt to balance the game more and make it less mindless.

And I want shooting generally to just feel better and more realistic.

6) Add lazyness to the players or make them more aware that they need to conserve their stamina, which means they'll pressure less and just try to focus at tackling/pressuribg either when its really necessary or when they see a good opportunity, rather than pressuring the opponent all the time to make them do mistakes and then tackle to get the ball. Dunno how it would be implented online, but that's how it works in real life isnt it?

7) Make Penalties like they were in ISS 2000 for Nintendo 64. It is retarded the way it is now.

8) Forget everything else that is not related to whats happening out on the pitch, likes more gloves and more hair choices in edit mode, unless you aim to make a game for kids that dont love football.

Thanks :)

As a predominantly offline gamer AI is crucial to me, i am happy overall with the AI but I think the better players should cause you more problems when the AI is in control of them.

A bit more creativity from the AI in attacking positions would be good for pes 2012.

Its also important konami get team styles as accurate as possible next year, team individuality is superb on pes and with the deep tactics system this could also make the AI even more challenging.
