I've played PES 1,2 (PS1), 4,5 (XBox) and 6 (360) and they all each have some annoying problems but at the moment I'm playing PES 3 on the PC as this is the main one that I missed and I feel like playing a good football game.
After playing for a few days I've noticed a few annoying things that consistently happen just like in the other PES games:
1. Your passes go in a random direction sometimes
2. The ref never gives you freekicks
3. Your players stand still when you pass so the CPU just sprint and intercept the ball
4. Your players jump for a header and the ball just hits them then they fall over
I was in a position to cross near the corner flag and I ran inside so I was facing the penalty area and my player crossed it to someone on the half way line despite me aiming for the box. Stuff like that happens all the time with regular passes so I'm not sure if it's a problem with the PC version or maybe my controller (using a 360 one).
It's definitely the biggest problem with the gameplay in PES 3 along with your players standing still for passes and it feels like they never actually play tested each PES game as they all have these stupid problems that you can discover within a day of play or less.
Pes 5 is probably my favourite one but that has problems with constant freekicks and your players taking huge touches + having to face wherever you want to kick the ball. I just want to play the perfect PES game but they each have such annoying problems each year that either don't get fixed or do get fixed but something else crops up which is just as annoying. Each of the classic PES games always do things better than the others it's just a shame they couldn't combine all the positives for one of them
