Dont get me wrong i think PES5 is the best addition to date but from playing alot online ive noticed people play more or less the same way than opponents EVER did in any other versions of pro i played.

I find most people use the same formation with wide forwards, or very wide wingers, play balls down the wing cut inside and pass it across for the forwards to tap in. (dirt goal)
Ive even found myself doing it as its soooo easy to score from doing it!

In PES4 there were loads of different ways to score, through balls down the centre, in the air, 1-2's through the centre.

I do still score like this in PES5 but it is alot harder to do and it is sooo much easier just going for the "dirt" goal as me and my mates say :)

It just seems to me PES5 emphaises more on crossing the ball in than ever before

its harder to create thru ball oppourtunties i agree, they made it harder because it simply was toooooo easy pressing triangle all the time... i still score off thru ball but you have ti use the rader and spot the run super early otherwise its offside like 80% of the time... but online i agree people can't be bothered to pass the ball around and work oppourtunties they jus play strikers and wingers wide and cross it in hey if it works it works but i like to work and wait for oppourtunites.. jus keep practising and you'll find yourself scoring different types of goals i agree with the online part alot tho, the game is not more scripted jus harder

the onyl way i seem to be able to score at the moment (apart from one off type of goals), is to cut in from teh wing and blast it from about the corner of the 18 yard box into the far corner

I'm scoring in so many different ways. High or low crosses, one-on-ones, free kicks, lucky tap ins, long shots, etc. I've not scored two goals the same. It's fantastic!

How is that considered a "dirt goal"? Highly realistic if you ask me, it's the best way to stretch the D-line and create some space for your strikers in the box. It's all good.

methical

as normal as norman bates
we say cheap goals but sometimes it has to be done, i mostly score crackers though
i scored a 45 yarder against barce with dennis bergkamp, and free kicks are sick in this game, i dont even own it yet but i love it
i vary my play alot anyway oz i used to dribble people all over the place in pro 4 but thats alot harder in pro 5 (i still have my moments though)

I couldn't agree more! I hardly ever cross the ball cuz that's just not my style of play, but it seems to work for everyone else. I play with wide wingers, Duff and Robben (they play just off Lamps and Cole). However, so many players online put their wingers right up, and i mean way up to the goal line, and kissing the touch line, now that's just ridiculous IMO, but it works.

I agree with this - it seems there is a bug or- there is a problem with the left and right backs charging forward to pressure and leaving gaps behind, and furthermore you can then use through-ball from these wide positions to - as you say - create tap-ins.

Its not great, something we'll have to learn to deal with... super cancell perhaps?

i played this guy last night and i was Inter with standard formation he was AC (which ive noticed nearly EVERY1 plays as AC with 3 up front)

he did 3 up front with like you said "best at pes" with them basically on the goal line.

And the game actually bored me as ALL he was doing were through balls to the wings cutting across and creating a tap in chance
he beat me 3-1 i think

so next game i was AC and beat him 3-1 hehe
too easy being AC and doing this formation but hey every1 seems to be doing it

ive said it before and ill say it again the only thing i dont like about PES5 is they seem to have emphasised on playing it down the wings more and crossing it in. Yes i know its realistic, yes i know this is how most teams play IRL but i hated it when people played like this on PES4, it just basically reminds me of playing the computer

Back and to the left.
Best thing to do is sort out a 4 man defence with your two side backs with high defence and man mark the wingers out of the game. If they play with 3 up front then you'll have more room in midfield so just put the squeeze on his playmaker and choke the supply.

Unfortunately, insufficient knowedge and information about PES5 would make you feel that the game has bugs.

Here, in the formation settings, go to the individual instructions of the left back and right back and look at the ATTACK arrows. Most probably, they are pointed front or diagonally and thats why your left/right backs are chargin in front. Change this setting to either NO ARROWS or arrows going backwards towards your goalie.

Try this and tell us again whether this is a bug or a great flexibility that PES5 allows us. As most of us do not have the PES5 guide/tutorial, it is important that we explore the game well and share the knowledge with everyone else in the forum.

i played another high ranker last night.
he'd won about 60 and lost only abouy 7

played him 3 times.
EVERY time he was AC with 4-3-3 lol
just makes me laugh people care about rank so much that they HAVE to be the same team. He was coming out with quote "im a god at pes" :)

i was a different team every game by the way.

bit off topic but found a good formation with AC

3-5-2 A6 i think
you got flat 4 in the centre mid with 1 defensive mid behind
and put your wingers and one central midfielder with arrows forward and to the wings etc... it worked VERY well against someone playing wide wingers and forwards
