This is your place to have your say, i want to hear everyone do a for detailed review of the new pes, i'd like to know what you really think of the game.

my review:

another year another fifa and pro evo fight, but this year in both corners things have changed and in the pro evo corner things have changed dramaticlly, the gameplays changed it ain't as easy to run, turn it makes you play the ball pass about, it makes you the play maker. graphics are as we would expect in pro evo fantastic, music still lacking a hell of a lot and the commentary is dreadfull. this game gives you a new sense of achievement not only just by scoring but by just passing, you feel proud when you make that risky pass or get into your opponents goal for that matter.

i think this game is just to real, there hard and then theres unplayable, this game is boardering that line, with the ref being strickter and the ai being super-human making mistakes few and far apart, this game would of been the greatest if only they hadn't of made it so the comp has the benefit all the time, yes i heard a qoute from a website that said they make every tackle count and make you work for it i feel it more than work it like chasin car by running, the ai lets me down in this game, you run in ur opponents half more likely than not that defender is goin to catch you no matter who you are.

so lets round this up, i feel they've moved in the rite direction but took out some of pro evo 4's strongest bits what made that game so addictive, yes this game is adictive but very fustrating which they did sort out in pro evo 4
i give this game a 8.5/10
gampley 8/10
graphics 10/10
sound 7/10
commentary 4/10
addiction 8/10

Hit the training mode and bump the difficulty down. Swallow your pride and you'll end up with a 9.5/10 game.

Well as we all know there have been many good and bad points stated about the current instalment of the beloved game.
So heres my views:)

Ok i'll start with the AI as this seems to be the most talked about.
The AI has improved although many people think far too much, though i feel that there is a greater sense of realism this time round. Many people complain that they fail to leave defenders standing, and are always caught no matter who they are. See the thing is i don't fully understand this:unsure: As i have made incredible runs with Thierry Henry and i mean 30-40 yard dashes leaving defenders in my mist, and this is on 5*. I just think it's all about timing (when to use R1 and when not to). Also the style of the game has changed so you cant just run and shoot i think if you be patient and knock the ball around then strike when the time is right then you'll find that defenders do not always catch you. This subject has been run into the ground lately so i'll leave that for now and move on to Tactics.
You rarley see a normal 4-4-2 formation now which i think is a great improvement from it's predecessors, as in earlier instalments every team seemed to have the basic 4-4-2 setup which is to be quite frank boring after a while. So it's nice to see some more diversity thrown in there.:)
Referee strictness is sometimes a downfall as we see players bieng tapped by the opponent and recieving a free kick, although this does make you think about when to tackle and when not to it adds frustration to your game. Which i think is both good and bad points as the more you get frustrated the more you wan't to play better.
Shooting has improved greatly as now there is more sense of power and the speed the ball moves at is just about spot on. One thing that's stood out for me on the shooting front is the Trademark curl shot by that man Thierry Henry.Curl has always been one of the missing factors in the series and now i feel there starting to listen to there fans.
Freekicks have improved also giving you much more satisfaction when you wrap your foot round the ball from 30 yards, the ball sails over the wall and then curls and dips like your favourite roller coaster into the top corner of the net.:D
There is so much more i would like to voice and so much i have left out but for now i will leave you with this as i could go on for ever but choose not too, So lets go to the round up.

Graphics:9/10 remember we are playing a console that's at the end of it's road.
Sound:6/10 The series has always lacked in authentic sound which will hopefully be resolved for PS3
Gameplay:9/10 Great gameplay though is let down with so many interuptions from the referee
Longivity:9/10 with the master league and loads of other cups and leagues to do plus the online play this time im sure this installment will keep you going until the next Masterpiece arrives.
So an allround score of :9/10 Great series that just gets better and better every time round.;)

PES5 is the closest thing to real football. We have to thinking, patient and make strategic moves. We should be ready for a build-up play. This game is a gem.

PE5 should be called something like PE5: THE FOULING SOCCER GAME. Here's why:

1. Fouls are over done. Waaaay too much fouls. Every little bump or tap is a foul. Most of the gameplay is all about fouling. You hardly play, when you already committed a foul. Too much fouls in the game. I'm serious, if you ever wanted a game with tons of fouls, this game if for you!!!

2. Passing is way too hard now. If you thought passing the ball was hard in PE4, think again. In PE4 you had the freedom to make your plays and pass the ball to have a 50% chance to score a goal. Not anymore. Passing the ball to make a play is very difficult now. So hard it's fruastrating.

3. Scoring a goal is like playing the lottery. I might even have a better luck in playing lottery than scoring a goal in PE5. Scoring and shooting the ball to goal is so much hard now. And before you say "OMG, GO TO TRAINING MODE U NOOB". I have gone to training and went back to training and still no matter how much you train, you just can't score many goals. Yeah, I know PE games weren't meant to score tons of goals like FIfa but come 'on.. when you play a couple of matches and the scores are 0-0, 0-0 (game ends in penalties) 0-1, 0-0 (game end in penalties) 1-0, 0-0 etc.. We buy a game to have fun and see some close scores like 2-2, 1-2 etc..

4. Gameplay of the game is different now. I started to love PE4 cuz of the gameplay. It was so much easier to do what you wanted to do. You could pass the ball freely to other players, move around freely and make your plays. Now in PE5, you could not make a special or move freely when you have a couple defenders close by or close enough to make a foul. The gameplay has gone down hill insteal of going up. PE4 was soo much smoother. Has PE5 turn communist?!? I now i'm exaggerating but why change the gameplay if everything was fine before?!?! WHY!?!?

5. Sounds, Commentary, graphics etc.. I could careless about sounds, commentary and stuff. As long as they can make game that plays and is realistic to soccer, there is no worries about the rest. We all just want a nice sports game, that plays like a real sport.

Don't get me wrong, I liked and loved PE4 -- but not too impressed with PE5. It's not gonna stop me from playing PE5 (especially because they added the online feature :) ) but I just didn't expect PE5 to be like that. Hopefully Winning Eleven 9 is different than PE5.

Overral Rating: 7.0/10

Well, the AI in PES5 is many times better than the AI in PES4. The AI in 4 was atrocious, and the computer basically wasn't able to properly build up plays.

Personally I don't buy this "the AI cheats" stuff. I think the computer just knows things that players don't sometimes. Note that my Henry is not getting caught up to by any slow defenders :p Receive the ball with R1 and R2 pressed to knock it out far ahead, and start tapping forward (or tapping R1) to super-sprint. If you have decent stamina, a slow defender will never catch you. If, however, you spend your whole game holding R1 to ball-chase (this is the problem with a lot of people on PES5 I reckon), then Henry will be too tired to run fast, even if you started him with full stamina!

The computer doesn't have the benefit with fouling: they just know how not to foul. This is a skill that will come your way too. Don't hold square and X too much, except maybe on approach (personally I *never* use X to defend). Cut off lains, stand in spaces. Wait for the *attacker* to make a move, and try to anticipate it. Watch some real soccer; players never waltz right up to other players who have the ball and just blatantly try to steal it, because they'd pull a foul. Yet people think this is how PES should be played for some reason. Just have to be patient and capitalize on the opponents' mistakes here.

Some noble words Jake ;)

Too many folk just want to be attacking for 90 mins.
To improve your own game you must let the com play some football too;)

*** PES5 IS THE MOST REALISTIC FOOTBALL GAME TO DATE ***

When you're playing a sports game it is a high possibility you will judge the game on it's 'gameplay'. Not the sound, graphics, commentary, etc... but Gameplay.

In this instance, football, you are controlling 11 athletes. These athletes are talented in various fields;

1.Kicking a ball in a diverse range of variations - whether that is to score a goal or pass the ball to a team-mate, along the ground or as high as the sky, as accurate as possible from as short as one yard or as long as 100 yards, passing the ball to a team-mate with such accuracy that the opposition are powerless to intercept it, swerve, curl, volley, drive, etc...

2.Dribbling the ball to beat an opponent by using skill, tact, guile, etc...

3.Defending your goal by stopping attacking players with strength, tough tackling, jumping high to head the ball away, blocking shots, etc...

4.Goalkeeping who's objective it is to handle the ball and guard the goal by diving to the ground, jumping like a cat, punching the ball, etc...

5.Off the ball running by making timely runs to beat the offside trap, or making yourself available to receive the ball from a team mate, man-mark an attacking player, etc...

You have to take into consideration of how the game functions and responds with the above mentioned, only then can you judge how good or bad a football game is. On this basis there is no other game available to date that is better than PES5... nuff said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gameplay - 10/10
Graphics - 8/10 (Player animations are the most realistic but the supporters look like they have been made out of cardboard)
Sound - 6/10 (Crowd chants are terrible, commentary could be much improved. The sound of the ball is the only plus)

I'm not at all suprised by some of the negative. whining comments made about PES 5. This is because EVERY FUCKING YEAR i read the same comments about how the new game is too hard/unfair and how the previous incarnation is/was better.

A lot of people are complaining about the "unfair" AI of the CPU. I'd like to know what difficulty you guys are playing on, because i play on 3* in master league and win 90% of my games comfortably with numerous shots on goal. If you're playing on 4* or above and are moaning about the difficulty, then you can hardly blame konami.

1) Yes, there are more fouls, but take your thumb of X (a tactic that worked in PES4), and only use it when in the right position, and you'll give away less fouls. it is more realistic and more challenging

2) its harder to pass but remember manual passing is also an option (R3)

3) OMG GO TO TRAINING MODE U NOOB - no i'm joking I agree shooting is quite dodgy

4) youve got to stop comparing PES5 to previous games - think of it as a whole new game

5) i wish that they'd sort out the commentary, but you can always put the TV on mute, and play some music. also i think in terms of graphics PES5 is v.good, and player likenesses are way better than FIFA

basically mate, stop comparing PES5 to PES4, think of it as a whole new game and enjoy it

P.S. i give PES5 9/10 - the most realistic footie game ever

hmmmm I'd give it a 9.5 out of ten, the only minor quibbles i have are the pace thing and the fouling. Even without x, which i hardly use, the refs are way to strict. It's really hard to pick up and play with your mates withotu geting frustrated, unless you're both masters

Jagsman

I'd give it a 9. My only quibble is the fouls bit. I don't hold x when trying to tackle but sometimes you're sitting there wondering what the hell that freekick against you was for. E.g. sometinmes 2 players shoulder to shoulder trying to win a loose ball and the ref gives a foul.
It's not just me though cos I've had fouls go my way as well and wondering what they were for.

Only gripe I have with this game. It's superb apart from that.
