I've been reading the forum daily ever since the launch and heard from many regarding the PES (the good and bad).

I got the game yesterday and played through the night and also before leaving work today. I think it's brilliant. It will take more time to appreciate the details of the gameplay and that is what I always loved about PES. I did try fifa on demo and was impressed by the graphics but not the gameplay.

As for PES although I agree on some features that are annoying (running looks funny! and sound is not that good) but I must say that the gameplay and AI is something I never experienced before. I started playing BAL. The gameplay is very close to real life football. you just can't play the game unless you execute good passes and have smart runs into empty spaces. When the AI of the opposing team can't find space to pass to, it changes sides and tries to go through our defense. In many occasions I didn't even have to ask for the ball and when I was making a run or in a good position i received nice passes that helped to open more space.

I know that I haven't even scratched the surface with BAL and ML but I'm glad I got it. I actually only bought the PS3 to play the game and I don't own any others and I don't think I will!! This should keep me busy for a long time.

One thing remaining - in NA we haven't received the 1.2 update yet and I don't know when it will arrive. I hope soon!.
Does anyone know when it will be available? Also if i use an OF designed for European version will it work well with NA version?

The European OF will not work. It is region locked. Take a look in the editing section in Completed OF's. There is a base one done for the US. As for the update, not sure when we will get it.

Totally agree with what you've said. FIFA gameplay is shit, but the graphics and the soccer environment simulation are much better.

It's too bad you got it on PS3. I would of liked to play online. I too play at night and right before I go to work.

Anyway, I have the PC UK version. So, OF and updates aren't a problem. Right now I am also getting a USB/PS2 converter, so that I can use by dualshock on PC.
Can't wait. If I happen to get the game on PS3, I'll let you know.

I'm in US, but have UK version. I got the update though. But, you will probably have to create a seperate PSN username and put your location as UK instead of USA. That way you will be prompted to download when you start the game up and then install from system settings. Hopefully it should work for you!

well, i just played my first match on the 360.... first off its way way better than the demo..

after 5 minutes i could tell this was a great game... the AI is superb, even on defense, and passing and the runs that the AI makes are great. can't wait to dive into this real deep!

hopefully the 1.20 patch comes out soon.

Same here jedi, I'm not getting any kind of update options on the 360 (N. America). I believe we are just going to have to wait until konami feels like giving us any info. I'm having a blast w/ the game, just want to start editing.

I love the game!! Only thing that ticks me off, is the 2 people from one console online is taken out this game, and you cant play completely unassisted online as in cursor style.

Been playing PES 2009 for a few hours and I must say that this is a brilliant footy game. I am well pleased with it:w00t The gameplay is light-years beyond FIFA and I am very, very satisfied with this purchase. Konami are listening to their fans again:w00t

I finally bought my game this afternoon and played a game.. since I also own FIFA, I oviously compared them and the final conclusion is that i'm selling FIFA, although PES is well below what I expected. FIFA has better graphics and better football atmosphere, but I just could not enjoy playing it. In PES, the first thing I noticed is the players running, i mean seriously Konami, this is 2009 and this is next gen.. my WE PES 2008 (PES 6 i think) for PS2 looked way better and played a better football than what they have released.. I feel like I'm playing ISS on my Super Nintendo and its the late 90's.. very dissappointing.. and yet, i enjoy it more than FIFA.. this sucks!

the dvd guide aint worth it... i got it last year and it told me nothing...

now, i still haven't seen ANY update... 1.10 or 1.20. and again, i'm on 360.

anyone else getting either update?

I believe we are out of luck for the time being Jedi, I just dont understand what the hell is going on at konami. Is it really that hard to upload the patches, or just let us know when it will happen?
Anyway, if I see or hear anything I will start a new post immediately.

Amazon is killing me. Ordered it Tuesday and it supposedly shipped out Wed. night. The warehouse is 1 hour from my house. Was expecting to find it today when I got home from work but no dice. Now I'm worried it won't be here until Monday (estimated arrival date). Luckily I've got a new computer build and Fallout 3 to keep me busy, but I was really looking forward to playing this all night.
