the keeper is more likely to stand still when someone with the goal scoring ability is shooting. if you take that ability off everyone then he will not be so bad agaist their shots

in part 3 the keeper dived but wouldnt stick his hand out when the ball was just there, so maybe problems with keepers will continue to occur

i had one last night where Given got two hands to a shot and cud only spill it into the net,bit like what he did against Norwich this season.

it looks great and realistic but i hope it doesn't happen a lot.

well can anyone confirm that it happens too much in the actual game?

My copy arrived yesterday. I have noticed this thing with the keepers. But I haven't found it a problem. It looks more realistic.
Also keepers stay on their feet more often to actually save, which looks really realistic.
If a keepers skills dictate they are good enough they will dive more I believe. for example I noticed that Victor Valdes for Barca was a little less responsive than Buffon was.
Hope this helps.

hopefully this might balance game play a wee bit becuase in pes3 the goalies were a bit too good and could pull of 9 or 10 amazing saves in one match.

Sometimes in pes3 a forwards shooting leg would go through a defender and get the shot away whereas in real life the defender would have blocked or collided for a penalty

In PES4 keepers are SO much better at saving penalties. Even though the game gives you more, you are more likely to miss or have them saved.

I certainly have found you are awarded them a lot more but i havent missed one yet! I must have had around 15 penalties and i havent had 1 saved, although ive only conceded 2 penalties so far, against Norwich(V COM) and Liverpool (v Human player) and i saved both(Jens Lehmann in goal). I hope your right and they are better at saving penalties as they seem a piece of cake atm which is surprising considering how good the keepers are in general on the game.

This things of keepers is way better and realistic...
Better keeper less stand on ground...
In PES3 every keeper could block powerfull and fast shots very easy, even short ones...but in the real football, only the best can do it.

I think Konami worked this out through PES4 and now its harder to block close and fast shots unless the keeper is well positioning and noone is blocking his view...

The keepers on pes4(full game) are so poor its stupid!! it's another major mess up by konami
Nearly every shot that I take, I can tell if its going in or not coz if it's not the keeper just stands still!! Even if the shot just srapes past the post or trickles wide at 0.1mph he just watchs it go past. Its simply laughable. What a mistake to make. the whole game is brilliant, but when you shot and the keeper does nothing most of them time, all the realistic play goes out of the window. I mean lets face it most shots in real life are followed by a keeper trying his best to stop it. even if its flying well wide a keeper usually follows it or covers it just to make sure. well not on pes4.
A huge error making the game half that it is!!!

I know, why don't they just change the game title to Pes Fifa edition. I'm dreading playing it at this stage and from what I've read their after making a lot of drastic changes. I played We8 for two days and Killed it with a hammer in respect for PES3 (fact), said I'd hold out altoghter for the Pc version of PES4 and hope they sorted the slowndown and overal game speed.
IMO the keepers in PES3 were class and I enjoyed seeing the wonder saves just a much as the wonder goals. If they make the keepers shit then thats the last straw as far as I'm concerned and I'll continue to play PES3 (which looks and plays brilliant on my PC) until next year if I have to. The graphics on the PC for PES3 made WE8 PS2 look like Atari Pacman so in saying that I'll still be playing a much better looking game at the end of the day.

P.S. If its not broken, why try fix it. ;) :( :)

Blimey, this thread is full of blind pensioners. PES4 goalkeepers are class, Tim Howard was pulling off all sorts, against my mate.

I have to say, after about 8 hours of play I think the keepers are, if anything, better in PES4. The number of point blank shots they save amazes me. Having said that, I'm not quite used to the slower shooting power bar, so maybe that's the reason. My only gripes are the running animation, which looks too fast when turning, the lack of striped/hooped shirts in edit, the dumbass kits/balls with hearts on (wtf?) and having to edit yet again. I haven't decided if I prefer this or PES3, but if I recall it's always taken me a few days to get used to a new version, so I'm sure I'll prefer PES4 soon enough.

I'm also waiting for the PC version though.

Well thats good to hear, I need some positive feed back.I'm just reading that the keepers are shit one minute and then the next one I'm reading their class. I just don't know how people can range so different in their views towards a straight forward question.

P.S. Pc version should have no slowdown what so ever and going by you dudes the keepers are fine so maybe things might shape up in the end. :)

I have played about 7 games (all on 20 mins) and 3 of them have ended 0-0 due to the keepers making blinding saves.

The scores always seem to be quite low which is quite realistic really. Anyone think this is the hardest Pro so far?

Well, I do find PES4 the most challenging, which is great for it's lifespan.

Young and idiotic!!! I'm 22 and have played the game for years and years. And im entitled to my honest opinion just like everyone else!!
I never said the keepers don't make saves, I said that if the ball isnt going in, they don't try to save it. Not hard to understand, or see in the game. It doesn't look realistic when you take a shot and it clips the post when the keeper just stands there.
If everyone justs waits tilll they get the game, they will see for themselves.
