... I don't know if I dare to say this, not even to myself. but I am a bit disapointed. the players don't know how to control the ball, it just bounces off them. I have only played three games so far. and I have already scored an own goal that wasn't a mistake from me. samuel was a couple of yards from the goalline, then the ball bounced off him and straight into goal, too fast to even give me a chance to repair the error.
also when you try to run with the ball, the players need to kick it WAY ahead of them, they don't seem to know how to handle a football. Maybe it looks like that when kids 8-10 years old play. but these players do this as a job, and should control the ball a lot better.
the passing sometimes is really bad. I played on the hardest level, against AC Milan, and both me and my opponents were too bad when passing the ball. another thing about passing, when you pass the ball to a player he keeps running away from it, making it easy for a defender to come between. it was like this in PES4 aswell. but even more now.
the good things are mostly graphical. some players are really lifelike. for example I almost wanted to touch the tele to see if Stam's beard was itchy. shooting is more realistic. and the way players move feel more like the real thing. I dont mind that the crowd isn't there, if it makes the game run smother that's something I'm willing to take.
there is a function to load data from Pes4. but I can't get it to work properly. I can load the names of my custom teams, but not for stadiums and everything else.
I hope I'm deadwrong, but right now I am very close to recall PES4 from retirement...

You really have to be willing to adapt to the new PES, because if you don't, the game will frustrate the hell out of you. It's all new, and things that weren't possible in PES4 are now possible in PES5.
It really really wants you to learn to play it all over again! And I'm willing to do that, because now I can finally go online!

I have to sympathise with the guy though. In PES5 the ball is much 'bouncier' than WE9. Even with R2 it does bobble a bit more before settling down. Without R2 it's about 2-3 touches to control, and if a player is not too high on technique, it just bounces off.
Even if he does get to grips with the control, he'll be dissappointed.
Have you had a chance to play PES5 yet. Try it mate, maybe you'll see what I mean.

And how often do you score...? Also watch a football game and count the number of times posession is given away, it's quite high.

@hagan, you could try to check your stance a bit before shooting OR try this:
I had the same problem with Ronaldo too. He's actually two footed and equally comfortable with both feet. Had too tweak the weak foot frequency a bit in player edit mode.

However I feel it's not something that you should actively try for, since 8/10 times, the defence blocks very well. But every now and then do try to shoot through a crowd. You may get lucky.

ive found R1 works good aswel if you hold R1 and push the direction you want to go they do a good touch into space.
Dont you think the move where you hold R1 and you push the direction the ball is going when your about to recieve the pass and the player like spins away without touching the ball and runs onto it.(hard to explain lol) Very good move thats simple to do!

I would like to add that KONAMI make one more close step to reality. Everyone who thinks that PES5 is bad or unreal, you can freely uninstall and install FIFA06 (if you think that is more realistic).
I just wanna say that i'm impresed aboute new stile of playing. I like that the game is slower - and that is because you can finaly think and make strategy in playing it...Goodbye rushing to the goal, hello strategy playing. A lot to say aboute it but dont have a time...Just a question : online playing - is it posible to play in pairs online (2 vs 2)? Thank you.

Got PES 5 yesterday, very disapointed after the first game. Played 2 games then switched it off.The players move more rigid and the passing is not as fluid as WE9. Seems slower as well. Personally i think WE9 is a lot better. I wonder why they alter the game for Europe and just cock it up. Whoever has both of the games, play a friendly on PES5, then put WE9 on and go the same teams. The difference is noticable straight away. The only plus's is that the kits are newer and they've added a few more faces. Ive had WE9 since August now and it looks like its gonna stay in my PS2 until next years release!!
