PES5 Online: First Half Lag, Second Half No Lag

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing this very strange bug.

I have a PAL copy of PES5 for the Xbox and EVERY SINGLE TIME I play an online match the first half is always laggy (roughly about 1.5 to 2 seconds latency). But the second half is always lag free!

What the hell?

And even if the game goes into extra time, the first half of extra time will always be laggy and the second half perfectly lag free.

It's really starting to get on my nerves and I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

I know it is not my connection so the only other thing I can think of is that it may be a bug in the actual game.

if you join a game they host the 1st half and you host the 2nd half

and if someone joins your game vice versa

OH SNAP! Really? I never read that in the manual. Well that sucks. Guess I'll just have to keep playing deffensive in the first half then.

I disagree, I think it's unfair for people that have a good connection. I got a 20mb connection so I don't think other people lags when they playing against me but I lag more than 50% of the time when I play the second half. You should be able to see the ping before starting a game.

its a free service which everyone should have access too..

ok xbox live is a service you have to pay for so fair enough but the ps2 is a free service so their should be NO LIMITATIONS

I fully agree, everyone should have access to the online game but we should be able to select for example to host the full game (as in PES4) or to select our opponent with a connection filter (using minimum ping or a restricted lobby for high connection).

What I mean by unfair is when I play with someone with a bad connection, I struggle one half by playing defense and kicking the ball out of bounce to avoid taking too many goals while my opponent can play decently the 2 halfs (first one because he hosts and second one because I host with a good connection). Sorry if I'm not clear but as I'm french it's hard to explain

Makes perfect sense to me mate. And I think your point is a good one. this is the line of thought I was going down. My question is how do I know if it is my fault or the other persons?

Well you can't but you can assume that if you have a good connection the lag is coming from the other person (I have 10mb with 1mb upload so there shouldn't be any lag). For me only 10% of the games are very good and 20% are still playable but the rest is crap

PLayed about 5 games last night, only one of them had lag that was a real problem, still won though so it was no bad thing!

I used some advice from these pages and just played 9 men behind the ball for the half with lag! It must be annoying as hell to play against!

Was playing last night and had lag problems at the start of the night, sometimes in both halfs bizarrely. The worst one was against some French guy who was playing an offside trap very far up the pitch and by the time I had passed the ball (with lag) I was a mile offside. At times the game stopped completely for a second or two - nightmare.
