PES5 vs PES6

These games are pretty similar

Which is 'better'? and why?

What are the main differences between the gameplay in these version?

for what i think pes 5 has the better/more realistic gameplay
and pes 6 has a better AI(atleast if you don't look to the goalkeepers)

for me, pes5 is quite better in term of realism and everything, BUT the referee is so annoying that makes me launch the game disc as a frisbee, hoping that no dog will ever recover it... pes6 is more arcade, pacey and it's easier to do supershoots from the long distance even with rubbish players... i'm still using pes6 just for the referee issue, otherwise i'd still be stuck with pes5, i love the way you feel the difference between a champion and a really rubbish player...

If you watch a real match of football it is just as stop-start as PES5, with pedantic refereeing decisions galore...

yes, it's much realistic, but i just don't want to be bothered by a pedantic referee when i'm playing, it only makes me yelling at the referee's decisions all day long, just like at the stadium...

Yeah, I wasn't a massive PES6 fan, I remember playing my first game on it with the lads, and people raking in 25-yarders every game, and thinking summat was wrong. Then again, I might be biased, I had my best ML game on PES5 on the PC.

Pes 5 was also very realistic in terms of number of fouls, off-sides, etc. I always hate in Pes 6 to finish the game with only 1 foul per side or even less when playing against the AI

The amount of fouls in PES5 was appalling, the ref was too whistle-happy and it made the game choppy. I started playing it heavily again last year and it was really fun other than the ref. I wish everyone would go back and play PES5 for a while, I think people forget how annoying the refs and fouls were. The ref is the main reason I prefer PES6. PES6 was a bit arcadey, but I felt the game overall was better. I liked PES5 though and it was/is a great game, but the constant fouls force me to chose PES6. Both classics though, I still don't get the same buzz playing the next gen versions as I did playing these on my PS2/Xbox.

PES5 would have been awesome, but the shite referees ruined it. The sad thing is there's a good chance that this will happen again will PES2011 because there so lenient this year

Good shout. That would be the typical Konami response to having too lenient of refs wouldn't it? Let's hope not. I will gladly take the current refs over the ones on PES5 where every little tackle basically resulted in a foul. And it would make online play awful.

I've just started playing PES5 PC again, I must admit I haven't noticed the refs being too bad. Having said that, I am playing on 1*, cos I'm using my keyboard. I have to say though, the gameplay really is superb, I'd forgotten just how awesome this game really is.

PES5 would have been the best PES if it wasn't for the fragile players. I mean every single time I would put pressure on the defense as there about to shoot and the slightest of touches made way for a penalty against me. Other than that, best two player game that's ever lived

Back on topic, I find PES6 to be a better one player game. So when I play with friends I play PES5 and when on my own I play PES6.

Just got PES 5 on the XBOX for 99pm on Ebay- forgot how good it is. Been playing the FIFA South Africa Game and was getting a little tired of it.

Never played PES 6 but am loving PES 5 all over again

PES6 was the last decent version so because of that I'm giving it the thumbs up.

5 is the realness. 6 is too easy/arcady. ( overpowered dribbling/crappy defence/ bad player positioning ). Which all leads to way too many chances and unrealistic play.

In PES5/WE9, we actually play 25 min games, and have realistic #'s in tearms of chances/goals. Not a slew of bs 3-4 games all the time.

I think too many ppl complained that it was too hard, so they had to dumb it down for the mainstream. $$$$
And for those that cry about the fouls, STOP diving in recklessly trying to steal the ball. ( you can pick diffrent refs too )

How about talking about the DISAPPEARANCE of fouls and physical play in these other versions ?? And the horrible defence and tackling.

PES 5 all the way. Best football game ever made by a HUGE margin. PES 6 is the second best but as others have mentioned it's way too fast, shooting is too random and the gamespeed is arcade. The new ones (2008, 2009 and 2010) shouldn't even be discussed in the same sentence.

PS: All PES5 editing tools are gone. Lots of people at EVO web forums are looking for them. If you have them stored, please share!!!
