I thought that was the bernabeau. Lovin' the new balls and boots. Any news on chelski are they licensed, or are they not? seems weird how they'd take the license away a month before release.

First of all, check the first post for new images. They're not great and there aren't that many but it's the best I could do in the time I had (I was busy taking pictures of John Terry and Rob McLean :D).

Overall, I'd say PES6 feels more like PES4 or PES2 in terms of game speed and ease of dribbling (compared to PES5 and PES3).

And just to make it clear, I never said that the Man United kit was licenced. In the beta it looked similar to the Inter kit and the shirt numbers were in black too, which doesn't look good on the dark shirt. So I have no clue what they'll look like on the release version.

With regards to transfers, I heard that it could be part of having got the licences for certain national teams that they would have to use the world cup squads. Let's hope this isn't the case - but since the player stats have been updated, I don't see why they couldn't fix the transfers too.

Is the defence improved as I find it quite poor playing multiplayer especially ?

IMO, the defences are still not as strong as they should be.

cant be doing with another full year of PES5 if its like it, PES4 was by far the best so far.
PES5 was the worst version for me. PES6 is far more fun even if it isn't so realistic. Referees behave much more leniently and let play continue. And the free kick glitch is not supposed to be possible.

Even in real game, players score when goal keeper deflect the goal into the net!! So seriously its just a game if you want to be good at it then learn to understand it rather than complaint about it because nobody force you to play we all play because we love it.
Once you've played either WE10 or PES6 for a few days, you'll know what we mean about the keepers and you'll say we were right ;)

Are the keepers actually worse, or are they just as 'bad' as previous editions?
I think they are the worst in any PES, including PES1, PES2, PES3, PES4 and PES5. Like I said, you'll all see. (unless they miraculously fix them in the next couple of weeks which I doubt, as they've had since about March to do it but haven't so I don't see it happening now.
I played as England in the matches I played and once you get the hang of shooting, you can be very confident of something happening if you use players like Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard. If their shots don't fly in then the keeper is almost certain to deflect them wide for a corner or rebound back out to another forward.

Zygalski, are you saying that PES 6 is practically WE10 with better animations, gameplay-wise? That would be very little improvements...
Have you payed attention to the off-the-ball running? I heared that has improved....
Hi Han :)
Yes, IMO it's virtually the same. I didn't notice any real difference in the running and forwards got offside just as often as in WE10 which is another annoying thing.

I for one am looking forward to a return of high scoring matches,
We have a happy customer already! :D

hmmm dont wanna make stupid questions but did you happen to see if there are more slots for teams ? I mean...more teams in Other Leagues B?
I didn't really notice anything new so I assume it's the same as PES5.

Is it just gonna be the ps2 version where the keepers are crap then or the 360 version too?
I'd assume it's a basic part of the game for PES6 since Seabass and the crew wanted more high-scoring matches (but they went a little too far). So it'll be the same for all versions.

But please people, get a grip and take this for what it really is, a game!
It will never be perfect in any aspect, but it still is the best darn football game ever
True, but the keepers were fine in PES5 and we could still score past them. In PES6, they play as if they are about 9-year-olds conceding soft goals against men.

hey ZYGALSKI- did you happen to see any of the edit mode, if so is it the same as we10?
Very briefly. It looked the same as PES5 so I just went to the squad screens.

No clue. Maybe they had a plain blue kit as they had not completed the logos for their licenced kit.

Summary. The keepers suck but that might just mean we'll have to start playing with 5 at the back or a sweeper system. You really cannot trust the keeper - but on the plus side ( ) sometimes the forwards make a complete mess of simple shots and it's very easy to hit the ball high into the sky even if you do exactly the same as the last goal you scored.

HATED pes4.... all it was was, lob over top, R1 chip = goal. Ridiculous.

PES4 was insanely cheap once you got good at it. It felt like old NHL94 with the 'juke juke shoot'.

For me PES5 struck a perfect gameplay balance, and most of my matches with friends in PES5 can be pretty damn high scoring. PES6 sounds disappointing so far...

Hey Zyg, what happened to the Terry pics?

Pes 4 was my first experience with PES, and I really enjoyed it (although I have also played the original ISS games on the Snes)
Then came PES5 and although it took some getting used to, I started to 'get' it, and thus came to enjoy it as well...

However... you always play on level 5 orso... and a few weeks ago I just found myself not having FUN anymore with the game lately. It had become frustrating, cause it just feels very unfair at times... with great players being unable to give a decent through-pass and fast players being outran by old defenders... etc etc...

So now I've decided to just bring the fun back into PES 5, turned the difficulty back to level 2, have some nice games and just enjoy building attacks and all that. It's still not a push-over or anything like that, but because it's slightly easier you do get less anoyed with the more unfair stuff that happens in level 5...

Ow... and I went back to level 2, cause level 3 is about as annoying and hard as level 5, with the CPU just mostly defending and all that...

PES6: I'm just gonna wait for reviews and all that. If they are very positive I might buy the 360 before Xmas, but if they're saying it's not a huge improvement, I'll probably hold out a little longer with my current Xbox and PES5...

Yes mate your right, and its so annoying when your in possesion of the ball, even at the back when your passing it around your constantly being chased by the oposition players, im not saying this dos'nt happen in real lifebut they give up after a while in real life and let you bring the ball forward, on PES5 they are always chasing you and its like they never tire.

And in a nut shell, on the basis of three games played on the PS2 version, I think Konami are on to a winner. Have just come back from the GAME managers conference where i was working for another publisher. On the basis that it'll be out late October, my guess is that this was the final PS2 build allowing time for disk manufacture out at DDC in Germany.

In my eyes it didn't seem hugely different to PES5 but just tweaked enough to feel different and certainly better than the last game. The headers, tackling volleying all seem to have been improved vastly. The balance between attacking and defending from the CPU seems to have been balanced much better and even on 3 stars the CPU seems keen to attack and in much more varied ways.

Theres plenty written elsewhere about the teams kits etc so i won't bang on about it. All you need to know is that there are lots. Player likenesses are mostly very good and put PES5 to shame. However i thought Peter Crouch looked nothing like him. Probably too late to change that which is a shame since he is now leading the English line in the game.

Didnt play the 360 version. I guessit handles the same. Looked lovely but also somehow a little bit "plasticy". The details are fine but the players look like they've had a coat of varnish - slightly odd. I prefer the comparative graininess of the PS2!

For me there is enough difference to genuinely justify the purchase this year.
:)

EDIT:
Off topic slightly - Gears of War 360 was bloomin amazing!

And I'll post up the Terry pictures in another thread.

My two pence worth - I've enjoyed every PES so far, and I usually feel each one has been better than the last. If anything, I prefer the more cerebral build up, as I saw it, to PES5. I am one of the people who thinks PES should strive to be as realistic as possible. Why on earth do we want stupidly high-scoring games? I sometimes beat PES5 6* teams 8-0 or something, but its just because everything clicks. Even then, it's hardly realistic.. But on the plus side, I can also lose games 1-0 sometimes, even ones I dominate. That's what I love about the series. Shooting is NOT easy.. working space is NOT easy. Defending isn't always easy. Dribbling should NOT be too easy! Even the greatest dribblers in the world only dribble past players a very few times in the course of a professional game, and this has more or less been replicated in most PES to date, in my view. It's more succesful to play a passing game efficiently and well, just as in real life. I do worry about the apparent emphasis on arcadey dribbling and easier shooting. It was easy enough already. If anything, I'd have liked it as it was, with a few more mess-ups from strikers. OK, I'd have ironed out some other things, but up to PES5, I was more than happy.

I fear for PES6 to a degree. I'm fairly sure I'll love it anyway, but this time round there does seem to be a bit more negativity than the usual nay-saying.

The keepers do sound a bit distressing. Keepers do spill shots a lot more than in PES5, even good ones, but usually in a recoverable way, and if Gerrard or lampard get a decent shot on target, it often does trouble any keeper one way or another, so I'm fine with it. But too many mistakes is a bit.. worrying. One handed saves, fine. Occasional spectacular blunders a la Pepe Reina, also fine. But consistent missing of easy shots and so on? Doesn;t fill me with confidence. If Zyg is saying they're frustrating as hell, then he's probably right.

The defence also worries me. If the forward runs etc have been improve, and forwards reactions, then so should the defences movement. Again, worrying. Also, the tackling - we all know it was a bit ropey in PES up to now, but PES5 was not too bad. It was a bit harsh on tackles from behind even when you won the ball, but as a whole I think it did an OK job. I hope they haven't made this worse, even if the refs are better at playing advantage.

Midfield hasn't had too many worries, but the shooting as a whole being even easier concerns me, at least with the new keepers. If you go to any game, you will see a fair amount of poor shots or shots at the keeper etc, and from any players too. So - maybe it being easy to shoot is an OK thing, but easy to find the space, and easy to get a good shot away - this should be more difficult.

Strikers - well, as above, really. But why get offside as often as this soudns like? I'm sure it's not easy to make a football game, but it really does sound like some areas are in danger of stepping backwards.

I think match stats in 10 minute PES games should be similar to ones found in real matches, as they have been so far, by and large. My feeling is that PES should represent the nearest thing to a football sim, not an arcade game. That's fifas rightful place.

--

There do look to be some nice new things - new licenses, better collision detection, fouls, etc. But as a whole, there seems to be much more cause for concern about a PES than ever before.

Damn right:happy:. Just like the good old ISS days on the SNES:crymore:

I was thinking the other day about something else Konami removed - remember the form table with the circles and crosses on it. Great when you were playing a league to see who had the longest unbeaten run. Put it back in Seabass.

Fifa 07 & Pes6

Just played the demo for FIFA 07. Sadly I don't think konami is going to feel any heat. Looks like its going to be all watson and juice again.

I loved PES4 but it got to the point where all my goals were prescripted and I was winning all my master league games (with some 10-0 scorelines all on 6 *). Then there was teenagers who had spent a life time playing PS2 who would dribble through my entire team and score. (While I kept up by playing a skilful passing game). So I thought it needed to be more realistic.

PES5 and henry couldn't outpace grandpa simpson and the AI fouling was unbearable. The rest of the play was great though. You really had to think out tactics formations and layer selection. (Currently gone 5 seasons unbeaten in the master league in all comps with plenty of 4-0 wins at 5*s).

PES6 uh uh uh. sob. Why don't konami speak to guys like zyg. There are very specific problems with PES5. Good goalies wasn't one of them. neither was the shooting system. (I do miss the chip system in PES4 would have been great fun against PES5 goalies).

Zyg! Can you & Rob Mclean etc not directly speak with konami programmers and tell them what you want rather than us just wingeing among ourselves? Surely that way we would get a much better game. They can't listen to everyman and his dog as half of the complaints about PES5 were solvable in game (like using the R2 to control the ball or turn and face for more accurate passes or double tapping R1 or R1 R2 into space etc). But la creme would make a much better game surely.

So badly want this to be a better game.

Has anyone noticed on WE10 how the computer's players hold the ball in the corners and pass it around the back 4 if they're leading with only a couple of minutes to go?

I've never noticed it before in previous versions but i think it's a good AI touch. Although VERY frustrating...

`Of course the UK and European press always criticise us about our goalkeeper AI and so we tuned this too, so we're a little bit more satisfied now.`
