"Erm, looks like we got a little bit overexcited. Turns out you won't be able to play Winning Eleven 7 - and therefore PES3 - online, after all.
Whoopsy daisy. That's what happens when you let a man whose knowledge of Japanese barely extends beyond ordering an Asahi in a Roppongi bar to translate a press release. Blame wishful thinking, but when Konami Tokyo recently unveiled Winning Eleven 7 we mistakenly took the mention 'full' network adaptor support to mean the game would be playable online. Sorry. Our bad, because it turns out that although you will be able to download updated team rosters and player stats (as was the case with Winning Eleven 6) head-to-head online play won¿t be possible. Sorry, it's just a fleck of grit in our eye, we'll be alright in a second...
That's better. Now normally we wouldn't bother tracking the progress of a Japanese game so closely, but as right-thinking football fans already know, the features in each new Winning Eleven game prefigure what us continentals can expect from the next Pro Evolution Soccer title. So obviously online play is out, but the good news is - aside from even more rarefied gameplay - you can expect an enhanced master league mode, a more comprehensive player-editing tool and referees who play the advantage. Brilliant, and apparently if you play as ManYoo the players will chase the ref around the pitch each time he gives a decision the other way."
