I'd like to know your thoughts on the following:
We all like to talk about and make suggestions towards the next installment of the Konami series, PES 4, WE 7, WE 7 Jap etc. When I look at the game, I marvel at how far the series has evolved: how much more lifelike the players are; the variety of goals one can score; the ever increasing "reality" of it all. We've come a long way from games like Sensible Soccer which, despite its obvious merits, was the footballing equivalent of Pong.
However, my mind always drifts towards thoughts of where this and other games are heading. Technology is going through an exponential series of advancements these days. So much so, in fact, that I wouldn't be surprised if in the next 10 years, the thin skin between reality and fantasy is breached. For example, in the year 2014, PES 14 (let's hope they've come up with a new name, eh?) will be like watching Monday Night Football, only with better commentary! It'll be like you are watching football, but also controlling what the players do. Maybe it'll be a completely virtual experience, where you are one of the players, or in the crowd?
While I concede that football would likely be the last thing to be affected by such technological advancements (1st being sex, I'd imagine! ), I'd appreciate any thoughts ye guys might have on the subject.
