play maker

hello everyone.

i am kind of new to PES, i didn't have soccer game since PES 5 or 6 :)

i don't know what kind of formation best against other formation.

my question though is , it's possible to play with 2 play makers? and if the answer is yes, what kind of formation is the best formation for it?

thank you, hope it wasn't too long of a thread.

Of course, definitely. But the question is why would you want to? There are teams out there with variations on this though - Barcelona for example (Xavi and Iniesta, the latter because he is such a complete player who could easily drop back and play the lone play-maker on the pitch if he needed to) - but more often than not having two play-makers in the team will have a significant effect on the balance of the team.

But if you absolutely must have two in your team then I'd say the best way to utilise it would be to play a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 and push your wide men high up the pitch, this way you at least don't sacrifice your defence but end up with a crowded midfield to pass your way through. But if passing isn't your main thing then I'd rule those formations out for the sake of convenience.

Alternatively, if you want to place more emphasis on attack then I'd suggest going for a 3-1-4-2 or 3-2-2-3 which both really open it up for you going forward but do the same for the opposition on your side of the pitch.

Lately I have been playing with a 4-3-3. Having two speedy wingers who can flank the edges and able to cross it in to a forward who is big and a finisher.. My midfield is a typical LM-CM-RM with the occasional AM in there.

thanks guys

it was helpful... i also think that one play maker is enough.

your information helped.

I usually play with one attack-minded midfielder, and one more defensive one. It's always useful to have one AM just behind the strikers. But if you're doing that, make sure that you're playing a DM.
Kroos is the main man for me. Great passer, great free kicks. He also has the useful "Marauding" player card, which means he makes constant runs into the box.

AMF is Benayoun from Chelsea FC. i use him as a play maker.

he has some good control on the ball...

but if i put him forward i don't know what to do with the SS player i have got... i can easily put another CF... what do you need SS for?

I like to settle on one AMF/playmaker in support of the front two and then another more Xavi Alonso/Pirlo type sitting deeper, such as:

-----CF---CF-----

-------AMF*------

SMF-----------SMF

----CMF*----------
--------DMF-------

---CB---CB---CB---

-------GK----------

Of course in the end my clever play in the middle goes for nothing and I send it out to the flanks and have them ping crosses in for the forwards.

that's nice offensive formation you got there, but it all depends how your opponent plays...

Exactly! Against a packed midfield it's not great as the AMF gets surrounded too easy and my lazy counter to that is to go wide. As much as I want to play pretty football, my lack of PES skill typically gets me working from wide to in, as oppose to through the middle.

I'd suggest a 4-5-1. with two deep lying playmakers and one AMF who can pick a good pass, you can have a very effective attack and great support for your lone striker.

My Arsenal team(which works amazingly btw)

------------Forlan------------
-----------------------------
--------Van Persie(AMF)------
-Nasri--------------------Arshavin
-------Rosicky---Fabregas-----
Clichy---------------------Sagna
---------Squillaci--Vermaelen---
------------Almunia------------

This formation allows fluid gameplay, and with a AMF like van persie who has good aggresion stat, he makes forward runs often to support forlan but he also sets up forlan with devastating through balls. instead of being a SS he drops back more regularly to get the ball and get the counter attack going quickly.

Best way to use more than one playmaker in my opinion, with 2 CMFs being the playmakers, and an AMF providing the killer ball.

SS can be a very useful role. They're effectively a striker that drops back a bit, and is able to link up play. If I use an SS, I often play them just behind the striker, on their weaker side. For example. If I use Fiorentina online, I play Mutu (right footed) to the left of Gilardino, like this:

--------------Gilardino (CF)-------
---------------------------------
-----Mutu (SS)------------------

If you're gonna play an SS and an AM, play the AM towards the opposite side, and a bit lower than usual.

it seems that CF can do the same job like SS, but i understand what you're saying and it worth a try.

It is useful to have an SS, because he can act as a playmaker and a striker. More often than not, he'll have the striker in front of him to pass too. Del Piero is probably my favourite SS on the game. It's good haveing an SS with great technique. Doesn't have to be a fantastic finisher though, that's what the strikers are for.

If you don't have a good SS, what I normally do is play one striker slightly ahead of the other.... it just seems to work. I've always done this on PES.

After having a brutal start to season2 - my 'clever play for nought' comment ringing way too true - I switched my formation some and now have a playmaker (Wilshire) playing on the left of midfield, along with the AMF in his familiar role.
------------CF--------------
----WF------------CF-------
-----------AMF*------------
SMF*--------------------SMF
-----------DMF-------------
-----CB-----CB------CB-----
------------GK--------------

I can play a triangle on the left between the WF-SMF-AMF pinging the ball around trying to open things up for the CFs or runs from the AMF himself. It's not quite Zidane, Raul and Roberto Carlos yet ;-) I still revert back to my old formation to kill a game off when I have the lead.

I actually play with following:

----CF---CF----
-----------------
-------------SMF
AMF-------------
------- AMF-----
-----------------
------DMF-------
-SB----------SB-
-----CB--CB-----

Quite weird but works.

with this u can score alot of goal and u can play with wingers and crosses or play in deep passes but the must thing u play with 2 DMF to support ur SB when they support ur attack.

but this formation depending about ur player's speed and how they can act with the chances.
