Player developing question in We8

As you know young players developes by how many appearance they have in games. So i was wondering if the position the player plays, and the more goals he assist or scored would it affect his EXP? (I have a Van Der Vaart in my ML team and he seems to gain more EXP in the OMF position. The areas he improved dramatically is usually his technique and when he plays for striker his shooting technique increases dramatically.)

it`s been mentioned a couple of times already.
skills improvement depend on 3 things. the learning curve (some are steep, some less), the performance rating of the player after a game, and the skills you use most with that player in a game.
put van der vaart as a striker and surely his shooting skill will increase because you will shoot on goal more often then a midfielder. same goes for his omf position, as the priority you use on this position is to dribble, which requires very good technique, and create chances for others. if you dash a lot in a game then the player`s accelaration attributes will improve and so on...
the amount of goals and assists a player can achieve in a game does add credit to his perfomance rating no matter which position he`s playing, no question there. but actually the perfomance rating comes for the position a player is playing. say, you want a very good rating for a defender then it wont make sense to go offensive with that player and try to pull of assists or even goals and neglect your defensive duties. rather you`d better try to win your duels with strikers, keep a good and solid back line and if the chances are there look for possibilities to intercept passes. this way you will increase the defensive attributes of a defender (strength, speed and response). if your opponent loses by not scoring a single goal in a game your individual defense ratings will also go up.

and don`t always go with the way: the more i play the young player in games the faster and better he will get. if the ratings of the young player are too often too bad, and you start using skills not compatible with his true position then you`d increase the wrong attributes and with that actually slow down his main talent skills and the overall progress. it`s also wrong to think, the longer i let them play in a game the faster they improve. yes in reality it would be like that in order to increase experience but in WE8 it`s more a mix of the rating and the steepness of the learning curve that determine how fast specific attributes increase.
