Do players develop outside of playing time + training?

i.e. if I buy a rookie, does he only develop if I give him minutes on the pitch (and after the match you see the increases) or will their stats naturally increase (as per their development curve)

Nah they have to play matches, silly really, next year they should have a reserves league or something were you can send your youngsters.

A rookie players stats will increase naturally according to the pattern in their Development Curve. So it does not matter if you play them or not - they are going to develop anyway.

However, they will develop faster if you play them regularly.

As well as all the information above, in negotiation periods or pre-season, select team information and then team training. This function allows you to set a players attributes for them to train with. This way, you can train them just like in a match but without actually having to play it.

players who play regularly go wayyy over their development curve. ben sahar (i hate chelsea, i signed him up for another team) is in the upper 90s when his curve at best is upper 80s, camacho is also crazy good when he shouldnt be.

as they get older, defenders and keepers will stay really good for years longer than their curve, which i think is right because the curves are wrong, defenders are usually better at 35 than they were at 25, but on PES the curves show a reverse.

if players arent supposed to, they dont want to develop, i mean, i signed up Larsson at 17, and he starts off really slowly. He is set to become one of the best players in the game when he comes back, and i'm trying to make him good but i play him for whole league games and he only goes up like 4 or 5%, because his curve is such a slow developer for the first 7 or 8 seasons.

Thats cool I thought you had to play them.

Something that puzzled me was Quaresma, he is 23 or 24 right? But his curve his low like all the 30+ year olds? I mean...he is one of the best young wingers in the world...its plain daft.

Quaresma's curve is low because KCET believe that he is close to reaching his peak abilities which means he has little to no growth left.
