Poor Picture Quality on HDTV

Hi, I recently bought a Samsung Le26r41b High def tv for my xbox 360. I was expecting the picture quality for the games to be excellent, which it is in all of my games except Pro Evo 5

In a mach, the players are very fuzzy and the actual pitch is very bad quality.
I use component connection, and currently running the 360 at 480p and 'Normal' tv setting.

If anyone knows how to solve this then I would appreciate the help greatly

Thanks in advance

Jon

Bad answer.

I think its something to do with refresh rates.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but If the tv can handle 360 games very well (e.g. pgr3) then I would think that the refresh rate is good enough for pes5?

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not sure on the refresh rates, I just can't see how a 15 year old tv can give a better picture than a £600 HDTV

PES5 isn't an HD games, so on an HD tv it looks terrible. Most DVD's I have look average on our HDTV simply because they've not been shot in HD and they're so compressed that quality is lost.

Refresh rates may well come into it aswell, but PES5 just looks worse on bigger TV's i've found so it must be the game.

Its just PES5 and has nothing to do with your TV or xbox 360. Even on my original xbox, PES5 looks like total trash on my 52 inch HDTV(thats why I play the PC version). This is due to Konami porting every version from the PS2 version. The PS2 version does not have support for progressive scan, only 480i and whatever the PAL interlaced resolution is. Simply put, this game(xbox and PS2 version) has no native support for anything other than standard interlaced resolutions. The xbox forces whatever you select as the xbox/xbox360's resolution(unlike PS2 games where you enable progressive scan once inside the game and only if it has the option). This in turn makes the game look worse since you are forcing a resolution that is does not support.

Ive got HD and have watched Sin City in HD and can say it was amazing. I have tried my xbox and it made a bit of difference. cant vouch for a 360 but i assume its just the early games. How big is your tv?

I have pro evo 5 on 360 and HD and it looks pretty good. I have 32" widescreen philips but I have to set the 360 to 1080i for it to look good. If you have done it right pes will chop the sides and you will have to big black lines at the sides of the game.

The reason it looks crap is because it is being stretched to fit the screen in 480.

Mine doesn't look too good on HDTV either. It's simply beacuse the game is made for the resolution of normal TVs. HDTVs have a much greater resolution so the game is compressed and looks worse than on a CRT. We'll just have to wait everything is HD.
