Went to this last night, a tournament was held with the winner scooping a PS3, as did whoever won the lucky door prize. I was pleasantly surprised that we could all play the (apparently) FULL version of the game, I was guessing beforehand that it'd be the demos. Here are a few thoughts:
- Pro Evo 2008 was running on around 12 screens on 360s and PS3s, including one large projection screen which was apparently linked to the PC version with 360 controllers.
- Being a PS2 owner and fan of the series since the original Pro Evo (or Winning Eleven 5), adapting to the 360 controller was tricky. I'm still getting a 360 though for Live purposes. Gotta get used to the new R2!
- The console versions suffered from a LOT of lag, which was disappointing considering how these are meant to be 'next gen' versions. The PC version was fine though. Replays and even in-game lag was very noticeable and will hopefully be ironed out for the full release...however
- We could select from any team, which may mean that this WAS the final version. To reiterate other people's posts on this forum before, it is a bit disappointing that the whole Bundesliga isn't in there, but then again Bayern pretty much bought everyone and have a brilliant squad. Schweinsteiger and Ribery on the wings crossing for Klose and Toni: Class.
- Gameplay has been changed incredibly, as pointed out by all you guys who have played the demo. Some running animations also looked noticeably dodgy, and Henry doesn't 'run' like he used to (like in Pro Evo 5 in particular where I felt he was so so close to the real thing). Wright-Phillips' running motion was also weird.
- The Aussie version has Lucas Neill instead of Michael Owen next to Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover (as revealed on the posters handed out), no surprise there though as its been said before. I can confirm it now however.
- The crowd and atmosphere are lacking, with the latter being more animated than in previous versions but still noticeably pixellated and flat-looking. In all honesty if the version I played is the final thing then it's not that much of a step-up, considering the power of these systems. I will still get it as it's better than FIFA anyday.
- Nerds FC were there, although this won't make any sense at all to non-Aussies.
Questions? Abuse?
