PRO EVO 2009 quick REVIEW

before i start i thought id tell you abit about me so you know where im coming from.

im not a major poster on this forum. but ive played pro evo even since the first game came out on the ps1. its the only game i play and i love it. im a great lover of football and i know how it should be played.

i loved the winning eleven series and i still think that winning eleven 10 is the best football game ever.

pro evo 2008 was a terrible terrible game. a complete let down end of story. needless to say i was lookin forward to see if konami could improve drastically. was i happy? ...read on..

ok i wont go in to massive depth..i will get straight to the point. overally its a mixed bag. i wasnt happy first off because the game felt like pro evo 2008. the ball and player physics sare a VERY VERY big let down. they run like robots and none the players feel true tothemselves. this is what destroys the game almost immediatly for me. it doenst look or feel realistic.

when i played the first game i expected to lose. i won 3-0 which was a let down for me. in every other pro game on the ps2 i would always struggle to win the first few games. not the case here.

anything good? :

the graphics are fantastic as always.
passing very good
shooting a lot better

enjoyable game overall but not true to pro evo. the gameplay HAD potential but the physics really let the game down again. it just doesnt feel right at all.

ive not played fifa yet and i probably wont. i hear they keep improving but i know for a fact the gameplay aint up to par with the winning eleven series on the ps2.

i give the game 7/10.

if you hated pro evo 2008..stay away because the feel of 2008 will still be there. like i say..not a terrible game, quite enjoyable but winning eleven 10 is still miles ahead

pro evo is goin through a bad time. the good news is that konami will find there feet again. i dont know when but i do know they will and pro evo will be back to its best.

ah so i can call you a plastic fan then ? Praise Konami for all the good times, disregaurd Konami for having a bad year or 2

At least you aren't turning to Fifa like alot of people i know

These same people grew up with PES, loved it all its days, one bad year and people never look back ?

True PES Fans - Don't get going when the going gets tough !

uh... i dont think the going is tough.

i absolutley love PES 2009 form what i've played.

one 0-1 loss in extra time to milan.
one 1-0 win vs. utd in extra time.

im happy, i like the difficulty (top player)... the gameplay is NOTHING like PES 2008 (trust me, i played it for 5 hours this morning before buying PES 2009).

the games will obv. be easier when we've had PES experience for a good 6-8 years.

Are you drunk or something ? ball physics and Players physics are the best features of PES 09 accordign to me

THE PLAYERS IN PRO EVO RUN LIKE THER DRUNK I THINK YOU MEAN!!!

honestly who did they model the run on??
looks like they have shit themselves
or are weighed down by the massive 1930's shorts ;)

I dont think so. Well, yeah, they might not run realistically, but out of the two major titles I prefer the PES running animations. Ball physics is a lot better this year and the ball is treated like a separate entity, which is not the case with FIFA where the ball (while improved from previous titles) does not have as much freedom. In terms of it being too easy-true, first game or 2 the AI "learns" your style of play and try playing it after 5-6 matches-you'll see a difference, that's why they have TeamVision implemented. Some kind of neural networks algorithm, I suppose, but it does work quite well given enough games. I'd say sound and graphics are kind of a letdown for this year, but you can at least customize chants. Also, Editing this year is back to where it should have been last year. Of course the game is not perfect in many areas, but I think 7/10 is too low of a score. I'd say 8.5 would fit it quite nicely.

i agree with you that ther seems to be more freedom in pro evo
but sayin the running animation is worse in fifa
lmao

Well, I dunno, I've played both and somehow I like PES animations a little better. It would not hurt both games to update them, though.

hmmmmmmm i'm still not sure, fifas seem to have a more fluid sprint wer as pes seems a laboured ''i've shit my kegs'' waddle/jog
