Reading it in a book you can't always get a feel for it as you are thinking about the move in your head. This way you read it whilst matching it with the number on the CD so you can watch how to do it also.

here is my opinion, i apologise if it is a little generalised, i'm at work and haven't been on the ps2 since the weekend which has been my only session so far with either game or book.....

yes the guide is a chunky book. however, i would say i only found a small amount of it useful. the beginner training section is pointless as it covers ground in the actual manual and in game training. the middle section is very good, showing lots of moves that i had no idea about. after that there is a page for every team in the game showing the stats of the squad players and the formations - why would that be helpful? it's all in the game already. this takes up so much of the book and is obviously a total waste of space. there are tips included on how to play with or against a particular team but if you look closely at these tips you'll see they aren't much use - such gems of insight as rooney being exceptionally strong and talented and manchester united not having an out and out striker. i don't think this is inside information exactly. information on the master league is sparse although what is there is interesting regarding the transfers, i was looking forward to the section on promising players but i felt let down as i could immediately see it didn't have all the players it should. we all know from playing season after season of ML that certain players spawn at different times and are key to sign the example i'd give being Kaiser and also various korean / japanese players who don't exist in real life. i guess the people behind the guide haven't had long enough to play the ML yet? the DVD is a nice touch and helps for understanding the moves you haven't come accross yet. i must say the "beautiful goals" is some sort of joke. i'm sure 25% of them are from corners and there are only a handful that compare to the quality of goal you could get on any previous pes version if you are a committed player. i refuse to believe that decent goals are no longer possible in pes6. eto scored a nice scissor kick in my first game last weekend and although i only had one evening on the new game so far i can see the potential is there. don't expect anything special from this section. i feel the guides only use is the "secret moves" and there is not much else that you should consider valuable in it, this forum and others will fill in anything else you need to know. i must say i was really surprised at how many moves there are, but quite a few are essentially the same move as each other. i don't think the guide offers much about the AI and general style of gameplay which is a dissapointment as i think there is a lot to say and learn in this area.

I thought this its like the played the game for 1 hour scored loads of shite goals and thought phew thats that bit done, the last one was pretty good but I am sure they had is on the lowest setting as the defenders were standing watching the game also!

I'll buy the guide to experience it myself and then to be able to judge it fairly.
By the way, is the guide available in Virgin or HMV?

PES6 Expert Guide

Hello everyone. I bought my expert guide on the 11th of December. I consider myself an experienced PES gamer, but i thought i'd give it a go with the guide since it says it addresses all levels of players.

Its build quality is very high for sure. I have to dissagree though with the content as far as experienced users are concerned. A lot of things are addressed to beginners, such as menu navigations etc. There is a very general analysis of the big teams, like Man U, which is said to have very good long range shooters, points on many teams, that are very clear to experienced players.

It sure has a great load of dribbles and i didnt know some of them existed. But once again, most of them I consider them as showoff dribbles, that is they don't are that effective...others though are very effective.

The best thing for me in the book is the youngsters' list which again, is quite short, but i can understand that you can't test all the young players of the game. Another thing i liked was certain details in the coaching options, like, if you change the role of a SB to CB he will hold his ground instead of running forwards. Some might say i should have known that, but i don't change that much in the formation settings etc, because i'm simply not bothered since i do well without changes:)

In concluding, i was expecting more detail especially in the formation settings, but even though i dont usually change anything in there, most of the things mentioned, were already familiar to me. I think experienced players will not find the guide that helpful.

Once again, this is my personal opinnion, which means that i am probably wrong:D:D:D
