Hey all. I just bought a copy of PES6 at a local games shop, although I am sure the release date is tomorrow. Anyway I rushed home to try it out but when I clicked to play it showed an error message saying:

I have tried everything to fix the problem. I reinstalled it with a different DVD drive, I uninstalled all of my drive emulators cause I heard they can cause problems, I uninstalled PES 5 and all of the patches + lodmixer. I am at a complete loose end....there is a copy of PES 6 infront of me and I cant play the game even though my pc should run it easily.

specs:
2 Gig RAM
Radeon 1600x graphics card
AMD athlon XP 2400+ CPU
200Gig maxtor diamond plus HD

This is honestly a legal copy of the game. I even tried Konami's UK help center, but it was automated, and at 75p a minute it read off a list of about 300 KONAMI games which didnt include anything past PES 2.

Pes6. exe problem

Juicydangler I would suggest making sure that you do not have any CD/DvD copying software on your Pc such as nero or the like but remove it. I had encounterd a similar problem with Pes5 and was told by Konami that this sort of prolem coud be caused by the software conflicting with Securom copy protection on the game DVD. Or it could be problems with graphic card chipset or motherboard. as it turned out the problem was the DVD copying software :mellow:

thanks for the idea roy. I am just reinstalling after removing Nero 7 and Alcohol 120, if it doesnt work I will start updating drivers. But I have been playing Company of Heroes, Just Cause, Call of Juarez, Battlefield 2142, Stronghold Legends, Oblivion, etc with no problems :( . Still well worth a go.

I updated all my drivers. Removed Alcohol 120 and Nero. It still says there's a problem with the pes6.exe file. Why cant it just say what the problem is? lol

EA include the sort of protection which detects Nero and Alcohol but Konami don't so it shouldn't be that.

Have you viewed the Event Viewer to see if it is reporting any problems?

(Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer)

I have Nero installed on my pc & the game starts fine with it in,so that may rule that out at least

arrgh yes kernel32 i've had problems with this! try searching on the microsoft help database base about kernel32 and see if any problems come up relating to software etc. Hope that helps.

Urgh.....most of them say that a clean boot is the best option.

Here we go....if it doesnt work afterwards I am going to shoot myself. lol.

YAY!!!!!


And the game seems sweet. Like PES 5 with all the annoying bits taken out.

Every guide I found to kernel32.dll problems suggests that the problem is either hardware (memory failure for example), or you need to clean boot your system.

The latter worked perfectly for me....now just gotta find help for the gittery graphics for the first minute of each game. lol.

'the latter' means the last thing listed before this sentence. So I clean booted the system, wiped the partition and reinstalled windows XP prof from the CD.

But cool news about the security patch fix, hope it works for everyone cause clean boots are a pain! At least I didnt lose anything this time though.
