Well since you own the original I am pretty sure it's not illegal for you to also own a 'backup' copy.

This happened with my Gran Turismo 4 disc, really pissed me off, only thing u can do is try to get it properly cleaned.

Maybe u could call sony's playstation customers service. They will freely try to repair your disc and if that doesn't work, send u a new one. Only thing is that u'll have to send your disc to them. So u won't be able to play pes for a few weeks. This only will work if your playstation itself damaged the disc though, but since this is the case, u won't be having a problem here. By the way if your playstation is modified, i've heard of this problem before from a friend of mine.

i have started having similar problems. loading between screens can take really long. whenever the ball goes out of play, the screen goes black and it can take ages for the next screen to load and play resume . . . and sometimes the screen goes black and then nothing, the game just crashes.

also certain stadiums seem to make the problem worse with some instantly causing the game to crash at the entrance scene.

strange because the game run perfectly when i first got it and seems to be getting worse. also had japanese version and same thing started happening in same way. not my ps either because other games are fine!

very poor show konami, especially with slowdown still apparent and only half a license! can't wait for next gen platforms and no such problems.

pes5 still best console football there is tho - by far!

I had similair problems with PES5 and other games. I opened up my playstation and cleaned it out, now everything works fine.

You just buy a Laser Lens cleaner. It's a little disc with brushes on that you put in your PS2 and it cleans the lens. They wrok brilliantly, only a few quid.

i dont think a lens cleaner would help me! only have the problem with certain stadiums and strangely with certain teams - usually unlicensed ones! thought it was because i had edited them all but still have problem when i remove memory card.

telling you its very wierd. definitely think its a bug problem!
