This was posted on www.PS3N.net A member on their contacted Konami to moan about button lag and this was Konami's reply:

Dear Mr XXXXX,

Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team.

If the Router you are using is compatible with UPnP, please make sure that the UPnP
function is enabled. Please disable any firewall/antivirus program on your pc. Also
disable the Router’s Firewall function and make sure the following ports aren't blocked by
your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and are open on your router (refer to the Router
Manual in order to this):

PS3:

TCP 25000-25999 in/out
UDP 5730-5739 in/out
UDP 3658 in/out
UDP 3478 out
HTTP 80 out
HTTPS 443 out

Best regards,

Your Konami Support Team

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH
Berner Str. 103-105

That's disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

"Disable all the security on your PC and remove any security in your router".

Instead, they should be telling you to forward those ports through the firewall and router.

Konami are an absolute joke.

I'm no techie, but the firewall etc on your pc should have nothing to do with your PS3 should it!...

If you do need to disable the firewall on your router then I understand after you've opened the ports you can then enable the router firewall back up and the ports should still be open.

I had the very same email about 6 weeks ago. What must they think of their customers intelligence?

One way to avoid the button lag is to play friendlies 1v1 2v2 - it works for me, don't know why but it does.

Red boot is game being played, blue boot is game ready to start, waiting for opponent.

You know what I've noticed, Real Madrid is only team that is lag free.

Whenever I play online, I usually choose Argentina, Atl. Madrid or Liverpool, and they are prone to lag. So I got tired of it and started choosing Real Madrid whenever I saw a guy with a red connection, and I've been playing lag free since.

I don't know if its an accurate statement but it worked for me.

I sent them an email and they still replied with the same crap about port forwarding and firewalls, even though I had told them I had allready tried port forwarding and turning off my firewall!.

I might be being thick but the only thing I havent tried is port forwarding http and https on the list they sent, how do you do this on a BT home hub?

BT Homehub allow you to enter TCP and UDP on advanced settings but not http and https.
Not that I think it will make any difference its the shit servers that are the problem.

this is BS, it has nothing to do with settings at our end, this is a problem they need to solve. I played all other online games fine without default settings

I thought it was just me who had this problem! It totally sucks that you can rarely get a lag free game at the moment!

I feel that the more time goes by the worst the online lag is becoming. It uesed to be that I had mostly free of lag games with a few button lag games in between which didn't bother me much but now it seems that its the other way around. I think the last 10 games I've played 8 have had button lag.

I don't understand why I have to disable security from my PC and router... Now that really is a joke... :(

I play FIFA10 online with the exact same internet connection as PES2010 and FIFA10 runs smoothly..

This button lag issue needs to be fixed.. I haven't had ONE GAME WITHOUT BUTTON LAG... IT'S A JOKE.

My internet speed is great too...

So Konami, please stop joking around and help us out..

I dont think it affects everyone at the same time the same way. You may have it, they may not or vice versa..... Its not an equal opportunity lag .. :)
