PS3 online connection HELP !!

Hey guys i just got a PS3 and im having trouble connecting online, i have set everything up and plugged the ethnic cable into the back of my modem.

I then go onto connection settings and press yes,wired connection then i go onto easy, from here on i dunno what to do, here is my internet status list:

internet connection - enabled
connection method - wired connection
speed and duplex - auto detect
address settings - automatic
Ip address - automatic
Subnet mass - automatic
Default router -automatic
Primary DNS - automatic
Secondary DNS - automatic
MAC address - 00:19C5:5F:0D:FB
MUT - automatic
Proxy server - do not use
UPnP - disabled

Is this all correct ?, when i test internet connection it comes up saying "The attempt to obtain an IP address timed out"

I am having the same problem. But it worked before up to Thursday and then it just stopped workin Please help I have nowhere else to turn.

That's weird, I simply plugged mine in, registered and it worked instantly and never had any probs, have u registered up to the playstation network?

Doubt it'll help, but try enabling UPnP

in order to play pes6 online do you need to have a ps2 network ID already because after i put in my made up username and password and pressed ok it says "error during verification". Could someone help me?
